Demeter (Greek: Δήμητρα, English: Demeter) was the goddess of agriculture, grain and harvest in ancient Greek mythology, and one of the twelve main gods of Olympus. The deity corresponding to Demeter in Roman mythology is Ceres (Latin: Ceres). She is the second child of Kronos and Rhea, sister of Hestia, and sister of Hera, Hades, Poseco, and Zeus.
The myth about Demeter is closely related to her daughter Persephone. Persephone lived with his mother, Demeter, from an early age, and never considered marriage. After her daughter was lost, Demeter had no intention of working for a long time. The earth is becoming more and more desolate, and mourning is everywhere. Zeus really couldn't let all mortals suffer this calamity, and there was no way but to tell Demeter the truth. Demeter immediately demanded that he also go to the underworld to accompany his daughter, and Zeus said that this is absolutely impossible, you must not come back in the underworld, then the earth will be eternal night and winter. In order to keep Persephone, Hades, the iron man, had already let her eat the food of the underworld, the pomegranate seed, according to the rules of the goddess of destiny, people or gods who had not been contaminated with the food of the underworld could return to the human world, and Persephone had already eaten six pomegranate seeds. In the end, only a compromise agreement could be reached; to allow Demeter to return to Mount Olympus again to bring the earth back to life, and to give Persephone the function of dividing the two realms of heaven and earth, half the time of each year as the queen of hades, and half of the time back to the earth with his mother. That is why every spring every spring everything comes to life, when Persephone is on his way out of the underworld to Mount Olympus; when Persephone returns to the underworld, everything withers, the land is barren, and the cold winter covers the earth.
