Beijing, December 12 (China News Network) -- The launch ceremony of the new book "Core Concepts of Classical Confucianism" was held at Beijing Foreign Chinese University on the 11th. Its author, An Lezhe, is a world-renowned Chinese and Western comparative philosopher, an internationally renowned sinology master, a chair professor of humanities at Peking University, vice president of the International Federation of Confucianism, a Confucian scholar in Shandong Province, and a recipient of the 2020 Chinese Government Friendship Award.

Written in English, Anlezhe's "Core Concepts of Classical Confucianism" is a tool book on the core concepts of classical Confucian philosophy with a new and grand cultural vision, the use of Chinese and Western comparative philosophical interpretation methods, and the global launch, covering nearly 100 key philosophical terms of classical Confucianism, placing them in the context of China's original cultural interpretation, and restoring their original true connotations, which will be an unprecedented and enlightening tool for cross-cultural interpretation of philosophical terms, whether it is to understand Confucianism in the world or to tell Confucianism to the outside world in China.

Yang Dan, president of Beijing University of Foreign Chinese, said that the book is a key funding project of the 14th Five-Year Plan of the Institute of Chinese Culture and International Communication of Beijing University of Foreign Chinese. On the basis of the achievements of successive generations of efforts, Professor An Lezhe compiled this classic Confucian philosophical concept reference book, unraveled the Western missionaries' misreading of Chinese culture, and let the Confucian philosophical tradition speak its own words, which can be described as using Chinese words and thinking to let the world understand the real China. The interpretation of the core concepts of classical Confucianism in the form of a reference book also represents the paradigm innovation of global translation interpretation of Chinese culture. He pointed out that starting from the interpretation of comparative philosophy, Anlezhe has given new meaning to the concept of Chinese philosophy, and creatively solved the challenging problems of translation and integration and communication faced by the global dissemination of the core concepts of Chinese culture.

Chen Xiaowen, editor-in-chief of the Commercial Press, believes that the original book is clean, interprets nearly a hundred core Confucian concepts, and knows the big meaning from small words.
