More than 2,000 years ago, Mencius put forward this sentence, which has a profound impact in history, and Mencius's "Mencius Li Lou Shang" has a saying: "There are three filial pieties, and no queen is greater." Shun did not tell and married, for no queen, the gentleman thought that Judas also told. "Many people are curious, this sentence is often heard on TV, but it is always heard that there is no queen, so what is the second and third?
Ancient people often used a variety of colloquialisms, oral transmission methods, the language is simple, easy to understand, but can express a complete meaning, to educate people, motivate people, plan people's behavior norms. As we often hear, "It is better to demolish ten temples than to demolish one family", "home and everything is happy", "stay in the green mountains, not afraid of no firewood", "family discord, outsiders cheat" and so on. These sayings cover all aspects, express the wisdom of the ancestors, pass it down through word of mouth, and are an indispensable part in ancient times, and have played an important role in all aspects.
Filial piety is very important in ancient times, in Confucian culture, filial piety is the first, in ancient folklore, there are many sentences about filial piety, "hundred virtues are the first, hundred good filial piety first", "parents adopt children easy, children filial piety is difficult", etc., these sentences are reminding children that they should abide by filial piety, to know the grace map, filial piety to parents is what every child should do, it can also be seen that the blood of the ancients has a strong filial piety, which is the return that should be given to the parents' love for their children.
And this sentence mentioned by Mencius is also a sentence of filial piety, no filial piety has three no queens, it is proposed under the ancient social scene, ancient times attached great importance to sacrifice, after that is, the meaning of heirs, no queen, that is, there is no offspring, the sacrifice of the ancestors without offspring is also broken, sorry for the ancestors, so Mencius felt that no queen is the greatest filial piety.
But in fact, Mencius put forward this sentence in order to maintain the stability of the clan relations at that time, and through the transmission of them from generation to generation, so that the clan class property and so on at that time could continue to be maintained, so as to consolidate the clan concept and system, further consolidate the monarchy, and thus achieve social stability.
In fact, in ancient times, heirs have always been valued, even in the seven out of the wife, the first is childless, verbal blessings, there are often "many heirs, endless", and cursed, there are often scolded each other's children and grandchildren, it can be seen that heirs have always been valued by the ancients.
Of course, objectively speaking, there are also drawbacks in the sentence that filial piety has three queens, which will make people care too much about heirs, and produce some bad influences and make some bad moves, just like in ancient times, wives without heirs needed to take concubines for their husbands, and even be suspended, which was very unfair.
And Mencius actually only said the first sentence, about the second and third of filial piety did not explain, in the Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhao Qi added in the "Mencius's Notes", there was a second and a third, so what is it.
The second type of filial piety, "the family is poor and the elderly, not for Lu Shi, the second is not filial piety", that is to say, if the family is very poor, the parents are old, and life is difficult, but if you do not work hard, do not seek progress, do not seek fame, to earn money to support their parents, and let the parents live in peace in their old age, this is filial piety.
That is to say, filial piety can not be said verbally, but also in material realization, after all, the people take food as the sky, the stomach must be full first, so that parents do not have enough to eat and wear is not warm, that is not filial piety.
Zhao Qi's mention of seeking meritorious fame is the pursuit of talented people in ancient times, whether it is the controversy of a hundred schools of thought in the Spring and Autumn Period or the imperial examination system of successive dynasties and dynasties, all of which show the ancient people's desire to pursue meritorious fame.
However, Zhao Qi said this sentence, not to seek merit is not filial piety, it is inevitable a little biased, after all, there are still many people who do not have the opportunity to pursue merit, or they do not want to seek merit, there are other ideals, is not these people are not filial piety, in this regard, Mencius said "lazy four branches, regardless of the parents' support", it is more applicable to everyone.
I think that as long as you are sincerely good to your parents, work hard, and give your parents a better life and material life, it is filial piety, not whether you have a meritorious name and status, or even how much wealth there is, but mainly have this heart and effort.
The third type of filial piety, "is to say that ah yi qu obey, trapping relatives and unrighteous", that is, only knowing foolish filial piety, always following the words of his parents, and whether what he says is right or wrong, they are wrong and do not advise them, so that they fall into unrighteousness, which is unfilial piety.
In ancient times, many people paid attention to filial piety, will only follow the orders of their parents, think that obedience to their parents is filial piety, but people are not sages can be blameless, if the parents' teaching is correct, of course, they should be obedient, and if the parents' behavior is wrong, they should be corrected, otherwise blindly obey the wrong behavior of their parents, let them make mistakes again and again, may bring disasters, regrets, this is not true filial piety, Confucianism also lists this as the first filial piety.
Therefore, filial piety is not to see and listen to disobedience, but to speak from righteousness, have principles, dare to point out the mistakes of parents, and let parents and families follow morality, be reasonable, and be just right.
Of course, objectively speaking, it is right to persuade parents, but it is difficult to say whether they can be persuaded, after all, many parents are difficult to listen to the persuasion of their children, if your persuasion is ineffective, your parents make mistakes and fall into injustice, is it not true that you are not filial piety, is it because you did not advise?
Confucius also said something similar, but he did not say that he was not filial piety, but only said that if the parents did not accept, they should continue to respect and not offend, and they should not be anxious in their hearts, nor could they resent, and if mistakes occurred, they could not go around saying that their parents were not.
