2021 F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Rider Progress List Advancing Leaderboard
- The 2021 season finale is F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with a dynamic start after 1 static start and 1 safety car. Among them, the finishing results of 6 drivers increased compared with the starting pick, 3 drivers fell in the rankings, 5 drivers remained unchanged, Perez, Latifi, Giovinaz, Russell and Kimi withdrew, and Ma Zeping did not participate due to the new crown infection.
- Yas Marina Circuit has been partially redesigned to make driving smoother and faster laps, but the overtaking opportunities are still concentrated in the two DRS zones; although the focus of the race is on the two drivers vying for the world championship, the scramble in the rear camp is still exciting, until the end of the race, when a attack and defense triggered a safety car.
- Gasley, Schumacher and Yuki Kakuda improved the most, with Norris being the driver who dropped the most.
- Gasley, Schumacher and Yuki Kakuda were named the best drivers in this week's Advancing Leaderboard.
List reviews
P1: Gasley (Race P12P5, up 7 places, Best Driver)
Qualifying was affected by grip and racing balance, stopping at Q2 and not being able to beat teammates. The main race started at P12, but thanks to the hard tires insisting on the VSC pit stop, the neutral tires exited the station to P9. Overtaking Alonso with his teammates, Inorris puncturing the tire, Perez retiring, changing the soft tire under scash and finally surpassing Bottas, the regular game is lucky boy.
P2: Schumacher (Race P19P14, up 5 places, Best Driver)
Qualifying didn't have the luxury of getting into Q2, but the results were close to Kimi's. The regular race started past Kimi and Russell to P17 and at one point touched P15. After that, he defended the P18, replaced it with a hard tire, and stubbornly defended in the competition with Latifi, resulting in the opponent's mistake. At the last moment, the soft tire was replaced, and it was very promising to live a "overtaking addiction", and even expected to get points, but unfortunately the race would make those old tire cars "unset".
List P3: Hiroshi Kakuda (Race P8P4, up 4 places, Best Driver)
Qualifying as the only non-Mercedes driver to break into Q3 with a neutral tire and beat his teammates for the first time. The regular P8 started to surpass Bottas, although the long distance was not as long as the opponent was overcut, but with Norris and Leclerc's punctures up to P6, the safety car used the new tires to surpass Bottas again and achieved the best position of his career.
P4: Vettel (match P15P11, up 4 places)
Qualifying Q1 and Q2 both seem to be "fighting" with traffic conditions, blocking Ocon and Gasley respectively, and the results are not as good as their teammates. On lap 5 of the regular race, he overtook his teammates to P14 and advanced to 1 place after lap 23. Since then, it has benefited from Perez's retirement and Ricciardo's pit stop, as well as the safety of the car under the unwinding, avoiding the car chased by the new tires behind.
P5: Alonso (match P11P8, up 3 places)
Qualifying Q2 was disturbed by traffic and had a chance to advance to Q3 but did not actually perform as well as his teammates. The hard tyres have been hovering outside the points zone since the start of the regular race, and the VSC forced him to enter the station earlier than planned to change the neutral tires, passing Ricciardo, Kakuda and Aucom. It was then taken back to position by two Red Bulls and Norris, eventually the P8.
P6: Sainz (match P5P3, up 2 places)
Compared to the struggle in the practice game, the qualifying status quickly recovered after changing chassis, and excellent tire management made his lap faster than his teammates. He started the race behind Perez and switched to a hard tyre on 19 laps to ensure that he could stay in P4 after Latifi triggered the safety car, without pitting and not losing his position. Perez withdrew, and after the game restarted, he stubbornly defended the little Red Bull behind him and climbed to the podium.
List P7: Verstappen (Match P1P1, same ranking)
Qualifying worked well with teammates, plus excellent S3, to reach pole position 0.371 seconds ahead. The start of the race was overtaken by Hamilton, and an unsuccessful attempt to regain the lead on turn 6 on the first lap was unsuccessful. Whether it is a soft tire or a VSC for a new hard tire, the long-distance rhythm is not as good as Hamilton, until the safety car appears, replaced by a new soft tire, and the last 1 lap of overtaking is like a bamboo, becoming the world champion.
P8: Hamilton (match P2P2, same ranking)
Qualifying has put the car to full use, but the lap speed is not as good as Red Bull. The main race lightning started, turn 1 overtook Verstappen to take the lead, and since then the advantage has been established, neither VSC nor Perez can stop him, until "the sky is unpredictable", the last moment Latifi triggered the safety car, the team worried that the track position did not let him enter the station to change the tire, and the final lap of the race restarted, the fate was set.
P9: Bottas (match P6P6, same ranking)
Qualifying racing teams can calculate P3 and only get P6. The start of the regular game was not good, but the No. 6 turn was connected by Leclerc and Kakuda, and has been following The Little Red Bull since then, with the clean air after the opponent's pit stop, only to overcut Kakuda and undercut Leclerc back to P6. The safety car started from the P4 and the old tires were overtaken by two Little Red Bulls and returned to the P6.
List P10: AuCom (Match P9P9, rank unchanged)
Qualifying takes Alpine racing to the extreme into Q3, faster than teammates. The regular race started to hold the P9 until the 15 laps to change the hard tyres, vsC was overtaken by teammates and Gasley pit stop, but from Leclerc's two stops to 1 place, staying on the track when the safety car, Perez withdrew, bringing him back to P9.
P11: Stoll (match P13P13, same ranking)
Qualifying was a clean lap to help the team get the P13 in line with the strength expectations, and the no. 1 bend made a small mistake. Shortly after the start of the race, he was overtaken by his teammates to P14, experienced the withdrawal of his opponents, and the safe car to enter the station, but because the car in front of him was unpacked, it was impossible to chase with the new tire.
P12: Ricardo (match P10P12, down 2 places)
Qualifying struggled with the tire working window and the balance of the car, and it was difficult to match teammates in lap, barely reaching Q3. The main race started to hold the P10 and spent most of his time chasing AuCon. 18 laps of normal soft-to-hard until Latifi triggers a safety car. He chose to change tires at the pit stop, but the "slow train" in front of him was told to unwind, causing his ranking to fall behind Leclerc and Vettel.
List P13: Leclerc (match P7P10, down 3 places)
Qualifying flight circle S1 was 0.4 seconds faster than before, but too much force caused S3 to lose a lot of time and finally get P7. The first half of the race remained in P6, after which he suffered damage to the tail end plate and rushed out of the track at Turn 3 to hand over the position to Kakuda. Considering that the hard tire has the risk of puncturing, it stops two times under vsC and falls into the car formation. "Mixed" to P10 in the final chaos of the game.
P14: Norris (P3P7, down 4 places)
The last flying lap of qualifying played super level, ahead of the theoretically faster car, and team leader Sedel called it a "very special" lap. Forced off the track at the start of the race, falling behind Sainz and Perez, entering the station early to change the hard tire, VSC returned to its original position, following Sainz. Unfortunately, he had to fall to P9 again after encountering a puncture, after which he surpassed Ocon plus Perez to retire and the P7 ended.
List NC: Perez (match P4P15, unfinished)
In qualifying, he sacrificed himself to help his teammates, but he ran well on the second lap, and lost to Norris in the last bend. The main game started past Norris, and the soft tire lasted for a long time, just to be able to block Hamilton's lap, but he did it! There was still a chance to reach the podium after that, but his engine was at its limit and had to retire.
List NC: Latifi (Match P16DNF, Unfinished)
As a teammate, he beat his teammate for the second time in 38 qualifying matches (not counting the sprint), although he encountered traffic problems and failed to make it to Q2. The regular start fell behind Kimi in P17, ahead of Mick. Stopping in front of vsc, causing him to fall behind Mick, he has been trying to chase since then, accusing The No. 9 of being forced off the track by his opponent and causing the tyres to become dirty, unaware that the grip was affected and crashing at Turn 13, triggering the safety car.
List NC: Giovinaz (Match P14DNF, Unfinished)
Qualifying Q2 feels like it's already out of the car' capabilities, and it's hard to get into Q3. After the start of the race in P13, a stop between Ricciardo and Vettel after lap 17, but unfortunately suffered a hydraulic failure that paralyzed most of the car's systems, including gear shifts, and regrettably ended the last race.
Chart NC: Russell (Match P17DNF, Unfinished)
Qualifying was not satisfied with the team's strategy of flying only one lap, the warm tire ring encountered traffic conditions caused insufficient warm-up, and the flying circle was 0.4 seconds slower than its best performance. The mid-tych start was overtaken by Kimi and Mick to the end of the team, after which the unfortunate debris on the track got stuck in the cold-loop conduit causing the transmission to overheat, forcing the 26 laps to retire.
List NC: Raikkonen (Match P18DNF, Unfinished)
Qualifying was expected to reach Q2, but the flying circle widened at 13 corners, ending his F1 qualifying career with a Q1 elimination. In the final regular race, lap 2 overtook Latifi to P16. On lap 21, the car suffered a brake problem, hit the parapet wall at Turn 6 and lost its front wing, returned to the pit lane and retired!
