"Hydrogen loading and changing lanes" Haima Automobile's new energy track came out on top

New Hainan client, Nanhai Net, Securities Herald reporter Zeng Liyuan

The hydrogen energy trillion track Hainan has entered the game.

On December 10, the first high-pressure hydrogen refueling station in Hainan was completed, and since then, Qiongdao has owned two hydrogen refueling stations.

Jointly built by Haima Automobile and China Aerospace Science and Technology Group, the hydrogen refueling station is Hainan's first integrated project of hydrogen production by electrolysis of water and high pressure hydrogenation. With it, Haima's hydrogen fuel cell vehicles no longer need to store energy from Dejima.

Due to the difficulty and high cost of hydrogen production, storage and transportation, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles have not yet been industrialized. However, the trillion-dollar market of hydrogen energy has attracted all kinds of capital and enterprises, especially in the automotive industry.

Hainan's hydrogen energy infrastructure facilities are being accelerated and improved. According to the statistics of the Securities Herald reporter, by the "14th Five-Year Plan", Hainan will build about 20 hydrogen refueling stations, two of which have been completed, and three are still under construction, or built early next year.

Embarrassingly, Hainan has a hydrogen refueling station, but there are no hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in operation. And Haima has both hydrogen refueling stations and the production of cars, coupled with the blessing of various policies, the company's lane change breakthrough is quite imaginative.

Infrastructure first

Two hydrogen refueling stations have been built in Hainan

In April this year, Hainan's first hydrogen refueling station, Sinopec Qionghai Yinfeng Skid-mounted Hydrogen Refueling Station, was put into operation, and Hainan officially bid farewell to the "island-free hydrogen". The hydrogen refueling station can meet the hydrogen refueling needs of 35Mpa fuel cell vehicles, and the hydrogen used in it is provided by sinopec's Hainan Refining and Chemical Kemet Filling Station, which was built in March this year. In simple terms, it is processed by the filling station, so that the hydrogen reaches the use standard, and then filled to the transport vehicle and transported to the hydrogen refueling station to hydrogenate the vehicle.

Differently, the hydrogen refueling station completed by Haima Automobile this time is a photovoltaic hydrogen production and high-pressure hydrogenation integrated station, which adopts the technical path of "photovoltaic power generation - electrolyzed water hydrogen production - hydrogen fuel cell vehicle operation", with the preparation of high-purity hydrogen and the high-pressure filling capacity of 70MPa, to achieve the layout of the whole industrial chain.

35Mpa and 70MPa are different in terms of filling time and mileage, and 70MPa is relatively more advanced and has higher technical requirements.

Qionghai Hydrogen Refueling Station is to provide hydrogen energy guarantee for the display and demonstration operation of hydrogen fuel cell buses at this year's Boao Forum for Asia annual meeting, and after the annual meeting, the display vehicle was withdrawn and the hydrogen refueling station has been suspended.

With a hydrogen refueling station but no car available, this is the dilemma facing the development of hydrogen energy vehicles in Hainan at present, and it also shows the pain points in the industrialization process of hydrogen energy vehicles - hydrogen storage, transportation and other technical breakthroughs are difficult, costly, and cannot be mass-produced in the short term.

According to the R&D personnel of Haima Automobile, the construction of the hydrogen refueling station completed this time invested nearly 20 million yuan. Hydrogen fuel cell vehicle manufacturing costs, use costs, maintenance costs are also relatively high, industry insiders said that the production of a hydrogen fuel cell passenger car costs about 100,000 -200,000 yuan, the use of a kilometer to spend 0.7-0.9 yuan.

High costs are hard to stop enthusiasm

Policy support promotes industrial acceleration

The high cost cannot stop the enthusiasm of various enterprises, especially many car companies, to enter the hydrogen energy industry.

In recent years, more and more car companies have made efforts to hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, taking hydrogen energy as a breakthrough in the layout of the new energy industry, and 2021 is known as the first year of the development of the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle industry, and SAIC, Hyundai Motor, General Motors, etc. have launched a new generation of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

There are two main reasons for this: one is the advantages of hydrogen energy that cannot be ignored, and the other is the strong support of the state and localities under the "double carbon" goal.

Hydrogen energy, rich in reserves, high heat and zero pollution, is known as the "ultimate clean energy".

With the increase of global efforts to save energy and reduce emissions and environmental protection, as well as the promotion of China's goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality", hydrogen energy has become more and more "favored". Whether it is the relevant ministries and commissions of the state or the "14th Five-Year Plan" issued by local governments, it puts forward plans and prospects for the development of the hydrogen energy industry. It is reported that the top-level design documents for hydrogen energy are expected to be introduced in the near future.

Hainan is no exception. The 14th Five-Year Development Plan for High-tech Industries in Hainan Province, issued by the People's Government of Hainan Province in July this year, proposes to develop renewable energy such as wind power hydrogen production, hydropower hydrogen production and nuclear power hydrogen production, and take the lead in launching hydrogen energy application demonstrations in transportation fields such as automobiles and ships, so as to effectively meet the transportation needs of clean energy vehicles.

For car owners, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles can effectively solve the "mileage anxiety" of electric vehicles.

At the inauguration ceremony of the Haima Automobile Hydrogen Production and Hydrogen refueling Station, the Securities Herald reporter experienced the whole process of automobile hydrogenation on the spot, and it only takes about 5 minutes to fill an MPV with hydrogen, and the cruising range can reach 800km.

Trillions of industries suck up gold

The hydrogen track layout has been rolled out

According to data from the China Hydrogen Energy Alliance, by 2025, the output value of China's hydrogen energy industry will reach 1 trillion yuan, the demand for hydrogen will be close to 60 million tons, and the carbon dioxide emission reduction will be about 700 million tons.

Capital is the most sensitive. In the face of the trillion market, in recent times, the concept of hydrogen energy has risen strongly, and the enthusiasm of the market also shows the heat of the hydrogen energy track.

Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are accelerating due to technological innovations. In addition to the above-mentioned car companies, in April this year, Toyota's second-generation hydrogen fuel cell vehicle MIRAI was officially launched, which can last 850 kilometers; in August, Metsex Benz launched genH2, which has an endurance of more than 1,000 kilometers, which has aroused industry attention.

Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will brush a wave of presence at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. It is reported that during the Winter Olympics, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou will invest more than 700 hydrogen fuel buses to provide transportation service guarantees, and Toyota, Beiqi Foton, Yutong Group and so on will undertake services.

According to the "Urban Hydrogen Energy Development Potential Ranking" recently released by the research group of the National Development and Strategic Research Institute of Chinese Min University, according to the local "14th Five-Year Plan", 54,800 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will be promoted nationwide by 2025.

In terms of hydrogen refueling stations, the data shows that as of now, China has built more than 130 hydrogen refueling stations, and the number of hydrogen refueling stations in the country will exceed 5,000 by 2035.

The construction of hydrogen refueling stations in Hainan is also advancing. In addition to the two hydrogen refueling stations that have been completed, Sinopec Hainan Petroleum Branch is under construction in Yangpu, Sanya, Haikou and other places, and is expected to be completed early next year.

Haima Automobile also proposed to build a hydrogen refueling station in the east (Qionghai), west (Danzhou), south (Sanya), north (Haikou), and central (Qiongzhong) in Hainan, and connect with the hainan provincial government's planned tourist road around the island, becoming an important part of the Hainan ring island station.

Industry insiders said that Hainan has the basic conditions for the development of hydrogen energy industry, in the upstream hydrogen production end, Yangpu and Oriental have a certain amount of industrial production hydrogen every year, and can also use nuclear power, photovoltaic power generation, offshore wind power and other ways to produce hydrogen, downstream application scenarios, Hainan proposed to ban the sale of fuel vehicles by 2030, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles market is broad.

Create a whole industry chain

Haima seizes a new round of industrial opportunities

However, it is embarrassing that the number of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles currently in operation in Hainan is zero.

Lu Guogang, vice chairman of Haima Motor, said: "Only by creating an integrated industrial chain of 'light, production, storage, transportation, processing and use' can we further promote the industrialization of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and the commercialization of hydrogen energy." ”

Different from other hydrogen refueling station construction enterprises, Haima Automobile, as the only enterprise in Hainan with passenger car and new energy vehicle production qualifications, has both hydrogen refueling stations and vehicles, which makes the company quite imaginative in the development of the whole industrial chain of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

Xu Tao, director of the New Energy Vehicle Development and Supervision Department of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Hainan Province, said that Haima Automobile has missed the golden period of electric vehicle development, and if it can go further on hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, it may be able to seize the opportunity of a new round of industrial development in the future.

Haima Automobile's self-developed domestic first 70Mpa hydrogen fuel cell MPV debuted in 2020, and the company's chairman Jingzhu drove this car to participate in the two sessions of Hainan Province in 2020, causing "onlookers". Today, Haima Motor is fully developing a third-generation hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, or will carry out a simulated demonstration operation in 2022.

It is reported that the company will combine the self-developed hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and the photovoltaic power generation projects that will be put into operation to create the world's first zero-carbon emission new energy vehicle trial operation project in the whole industry chain. The five hydrogen refueling stations to be built are a comprehensive service body for new energy vehicles integrating photovoltaic power generation, water electrolysis hydrogen production, high/low pressure hydrogenation, charging piles, pre-sales experience of new energy vehicles and after-sales service.

Relying on the construction of hydrogen energy infrastructure, by the end of the "14th Five-Year Plan", Haima Automobile will invest about 2,000 hydrogen fuel cell passenger cars for commercial operation, build an island-wide transportation trunk hydrogen energy vehicle operation system, and meet the multi-scenario intercity travel needs of official cars, business vehicles and shared travel.

The policy and location advantages of Hainan Free Trade Port also provide strong support for Haima Automobile to upgrade to new energy vehicles and intelligent vehicles. The Securities Herald reporter learned that the relevant departments in Hainan are guiding the company to formulate a specific implementation plan for the landing of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and under mature conditions, it may promote the introduction of targeted policies.

Haima Automobile said that with the advantages of the free trade port, the company will strengthen international cooperation, introduce international new energy vehicle head enterprises, and seek common development.

In addition, Haima Automobile is applying for certificate of origin, and if it is successful, its production costs will be greatly reduced with the help of preferential tax policies.

Under multiple factors such as technological upgrading and favorable policies, how Haima Automobile will break through is worth looking forward to.
