Accompanied by majestic and atmospheric music, the young dancers showed the bumpy and magnificent life of "people's musician" Xian Xinghai with passionate performances.
The dance drama focuses on Xian Xinghai's little-known life footprints in the second half of his life. Chief director Xiao Xiangrong, screenwriter Xu Rui, composer Guo Sida and other creators chose to present with an innovative "musical symphonic narrative" structure, highly imagery expression techniques, classical and modern music melodies, and modern styles that conform to the aesthetics of contemporary audiences, and around Xian Xinghai's revolutionary story, emotional story, life story, creative story, etc., to review his life from the inner perspective of Xian Xinghai's life at the time of his death, so that the audience not only understands the creative story behind the "Yellow River Chorus". A more all-round and three-dimensional re-understanding of a flesh-and-blood "people's artist" with firm faith.
Illuminated by a strong beam of light, Xian Xinghai slowly rose from the orchestra pool. Xian Xinghai's life unfolds slowly in the "dream at the time of death". In the dream, the hospital bed becomes a sail wandering in the long river of life, relatives and friends appear one by one, and the stage background of the sky full of stars and blue sea symbolizes the fisherman's origin of Xian Xinghai. In the sails of the boats held up by everyone, he danced romantically, swam freely, and dreamed of returning to the "sea boy" with a brisk melody. On the road to study abroad, Xian Xinghai exerted all his passion and talent, determined to be a music rooted in China; in the melody full of the charm of old Shanghai, the glimmer of "fate" guided Xian Xinghai through the high wall to start the road of "seeking" the country' salvation; Xian Xinghai and GuangWeiran's duo dance restored the creative process of the immortal masterpiece "Yellow River Chorus", and the suffering Chinese people marched forward, like a "map of displaced people" slowly unfolding on the stage...
