GT500KR has a long history, in 1968 the brand founder Carroll Shelby based on the Ford Shelby GT500, put on the output of 335hp V8 engine, gave birth to the original shelby Cobra GT500KR, its KR represents the "King of the road" road king title. In 2008, 40 years later, Shelby launched the second generation GT500KR, which was based on the then fifth generation Mustang and combined with a 5.4-liter supercharged power heart to squeeze out 540hp maximum output.
The third generation gt500KR is the use of 5.2 liters V8 engine, in combination with the Double Helix superchargers created by the Whipple Superchargers, with larger size throttles, new intercoolers, modified exhaust system, upgrades to the Pulley disk and other zero total hardware improvement projects, the power jumped from the original GT500's 760hp to more than 900hp level, but unfortunately Shelby did not disclose the Mustang King's stationary breakthrough acceleration or extreme speed strength. It can only be further announced in the future. However, since the GT500 itself has a performance of about 10.5 seconds of acceleration in 04, it is conceivable that the GT500KR will pay a more eye-catching performance.
In addition to re-tuning the MagneRide electromagnetic damping suspension, the chassis part is also equipped with upgraded anti-roll bars and adjustable springs at the front and rear heights, combined with Shelby's own 20-inch aluminum ring, ushering in excellent handling strength. In terms of appearance, it is slightly "icing on the cake" on top of the original competitive GT500, such as re-equipping with three sets of heat dissipation fin hole hoods, and adding carbon fiber front and lower spoilers, rear down diffusers, rear spoiler tails and other air components. Among them, the US market model (180 units will be supplied) can also see the "60th Anniversary" metal commemorative emblem at the front and rear of the car, emphasizing the unique identity.
Of course, Shelby has not forgotten the active duty GT500 owners, and specially provides 60 sets of KR Package upgrade kits for consumers to purchase, with an asking price of $54,995 (about 350,000), which will be personally installed by Shelby's professional technicians in Nevada.
