On the morning of December 18, the Sanxingdui Site and jinsha site jointly declared the world cultural heritage work promotion meeting was held in Guanghan.
The joint application for these two famous ancient sites has been officially put on the agenda since the 18th of this day. Interested readers may wonder: What exactly does it take to meet in order to be successful?

The Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage has six criteria for the inscription of world cultural heritage, which may be inscribed on the World Heritage List as long as any of the first five articles are met (of which article 6 cannot be used alone).
The six criteria are:
1. Must represent a unique artistic achievement, a masterpiece of creative genius.
2. In a certain period of time or in a specific cultural region of the world, reflect the change of human concepts related to architectural art or monumental building art.
3. Provide a unique, at least exceptional, testimony to a vanished civilization or cultural tradition.
4. As a representative building of an important stage in human history, it can reflect the outstanding examples of architecture or landscapes of this era.
5. Excellent examples of traditional human settlements representing one or more cultures – especially those cultures that are in crisis of extinction because of irresistible historical currents.
(6) Direct or substantial connection with events of particular universal significance, existing traditions, ideas, beliefs or literary arts (cannot be used alone, but as a supplement).
Li Guanghan, assistant director of UNESCO's Asia-Pacific World Heritage Training and Research Center (Beijing), believes that the Sanxingdui and Jinsha sites meet at least the first three of the world cultural heritage value standards. "The unique artistic style of Sanxingdui's bronzes is obvious to all, and the influence of culture from the Central Plains and other regions of the Yangtze River Basin can also be seen from the cultural relics excavated from Sanxingdui, and at the same time, the Yuzhang and other objects of Sanxingdui are also circulated to other regions, which can fully reflect the cultural exchanges of different regions."
Li Guanghan
As for the time required to wait for the application for the heritage, Li Guanghan said that although it is possible to queue up for several years, if a new breakthrough point is found through further archaeological research work, and the arguments in all aspects are relatively mature, it is also entirely possible to "cut in line" and move forward. "In addition, if this cultural heritage has a high degree of international attention and popularity, it will also help shorten the time for applying for heritage."
Jiang Bo, vice chairman of the International Council on Monuments and Sites, particularly emphasized the third article at today's meeting. He told Red Star News that this article is the key point that he believes is the most promising key point for Sanxingdui and Sands to apply for heritage — an important testimony to a civilization and tradition that has disappeared.
Jiang Bo
"In order to highlight the significance and value of the testimony to the ancient Shu civilization carried by the two sites, we must first interpret it in depth based on modern archaeological work, so that the outline of the civilization they represent in the long river of history is clearer, and prove that they are truly valuable and connotative cultural heritage projects." Jiang Bo said, "At the same time, strengthen the collation of the surrounding environment, do a good job in the protection and development of cultural heritage sites, and coordinate the interests of local residents, and the hope of success will be greater and greater." ”
The relevant person in charge of the Sichuan Provincial Cultural Relics Bureau also told the Red Star News reporter that the archaeological research on the six newly discovered sacrificial pits in Sanxingdui and their excavated cultural relics is expected to accelerate the process of applying for heritage. "As a superior supervisory unit, we will continue to provide support and make preparations for various professions, including the improvement of the heritage environment, the improvement of the display level, etc., so as to excavate, study, protect and make good use of them, and these work will be carried out simultaneously in the process of applying for heritage."
