Liu Ruming is a controversial figure. He led the army into battle, fought bravely, but was still blamed. Especially in the early days of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he was once denounced as a "traitor", which made him complain and feel very unhappy.

He was one of Feng Yuxiang's thirteen Taibao, a famous anti-Japanese general, why was he denounced as a "traitor"?

Liu Ruming is a native of Cangzhou, Hebei Province, born in 1895. In 1912, he joined the army under Feng Yuxiang, he started from an ordinary soldier, relying on his ingenuity and bravery to fight, he was promoted to colonel regimental commander in 10 years, and later promoted to brigade commander, division commander, and army commander. He was one of the "Thirteen Taibao" of Feng Yuxiang of the Northwest Army and one of the Five Tigers in the Northwest Army.

In 1933, during the Great Wall War of Resistance, Liu Ruming was transferred to the deputy commander of the Twenty-ninth Army and the commander of the Provisional Second Division, leading his troops to meet the invading enemy on the Great Wall Line around Luo Wenyu in Zunhua. Due to the fierceness of the Japanese puppet army, the battle was extremely fierce, and the positions were held several times, and each did not retreat. In order to hold the position, Liu Ruming personally went to the front line of the battle, and personally led the pistol and knife team, ambushed at the mountain pass, and waited for the enemy infantry to approach 200 meters, he stood up and wielded a knife to supervise the battle, and threw grenades and wielded large knives to kill the enemy bravely, so that the Japanese puppet army that invaded our position retreated in a hurry. Liu Ruming also led his team to take advantage of the victory and bravely pursued, breaking through many lines of defense of the Japanese army until it drove the Japanese puppet army out of more than 10 miles north of Luo Wenyu. The Battle of Luo Wenyu on the Great Wall killed more than 3,000 enemy people, greatly damaging the vitality of the Japanese puppet army, and did not dare to attack in the direction of Luo Wenyu again.

Why did such an anti-Japanese general later dismiss this man as a "traitor"? This has to start from the battle on the eastern section of the North Sui Road.

The Battle of the Eastern Section of Pingsui Road (Nankou Anti-Japanese War) took place in August 1937. Liu Ruming was then the commander of the 143rd Division of the Twenty-ninth Army and the chairman of Chahar Province, when the Japanese army was preparing to invade Zhangjiakou and occupy Chahar, and then divide the troops into Jin and Sui. In order to defend the three provinces of Cha, Jin, and Sui, the Military Commission of the Nationalist Government decided to open a war on the eastern section of Pingsui Road to prevent the Japanese from invading. Therefore, Fu Zuoyi, commander of the 35th Army and chairman of Suiyuan Province, and Gao Guizi of the 84th Division were dispatched to Zhangjiakou to make strategic arrangements to assist Liu Ruming in preserving cha province.

As everyone knows, although the army at that time was unified under the account of a military commission, the factions were still obvious, and they all had their own careful thoughts to protect their own strength, and although the general headquarters of the former enemy had been established, there were still cases of disregarding the overall situation and not listening to commands. From this point of view, Liu Ruming behaved very badly.

For example, Tang Enbo, the former commander-in-chief of the enemy, called Liu Ruming when the South Exit was in danger, asking him to move a regiment stationed in Zhuolu and Huailai in the direction of the South Pass, and if necessary, he could reinforce the South Pass, and Liu did not even reply. In the subsequent battles, Liu Ruming also blocked the friendly troops who went to Nankou to resist the war several times, causing the friendly troops to lose their fighters, and finally led to the failure of the operation on the eastern section of Pingsui Road and the fall of Zhangjiakou, and the result was very serious.

Therefore, because of Liu Ruming's self-respect for supporting the troops and disregarding the overall situation of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression in order to protect his territory in Chahar Province, he was criticized by various media at that time, and some directly installed the name of "Traitor" on his head. In fact, in this battle, his troops also experienced a difficult battle, they fought with the Japanese army in Zhangjiakou for a week, a division commander was wounded, the brigade commander was killed and wounded, the regiment commander was killed, and the battalion commander died seven. He said angrily, "He also said that I 'didn't shoot a shot' and 'traitor'!" Are these people suicidal? ”

Of course, this matter was known to Chiang Kai-shek, and later when he summoned Liu Ruming in Wuchang, he was rewarded with 30,000 silver dollars, but he still gave all of them to the soldiers.
