A few days ago, the East China Liaison Office of the International Committee of China Industrial and Cooperatives went to the Children's Palace of the China Welfare Association and the Shanghai Hongkou Fire Rescue Station to hold the activity of "Inheriting the 'Louis Eli Spirit' Internationalist Education Base Tour". At the Children's Palace of the China Welfare Association, the East China Liaison Office of the International Committee for Industrial and Industrial Cooperation of China watched the wonderful performances of the dance troupe and choir that were rehearsing. Founded by Song Qingling himself, the Children's Palace of the China Welfare Association has the reputation of "China's Little Ambassador" and undertakes the important mission of people-to-people diplomacy.
On the same day, the Children's Palace of the China Welfare Association was officially awarded the "Internationalist Education Base". "The China Welfare Association and the China International Committee for Industrial cooperation have deep historical roots. The China Welfare Association was founded by Soong Ching Ling in June 1938 in Hong Kong, China, and the International Committee of China Industrial Cooperation was founded in Hong Kong, China in January 1939 by International Friends such as Song Qingling and Louis Eli to support the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, strive for overseas assistance, and promote the Movement of Chinese Industrial Cooperatives. Subsequently, the East China Liaison Office of the China International Committee for Industry and Cooperation visited the Hongkou Fire Rescue Station. As the oldest surviving fire station in China, Hongkou Fire Rescue Station was built in 1866 and has a history of 155 years. The current station camp area was completed in 1917, with a history of 104 years, and is an excellent historical protection building in Shanghai. In April 1927, Louis Eli traveled thousands of miles to China to serve in the Hongkou Fire Fighting Team of the Fire Department of the Ministry of Works and Bureau of the Shanghai Public Concession.
Since the launch of the base in May 2016, it has received more than 3,000 primary and secondary school students and social masses from the city and even the whole country to study and visit the team, including more than 100 international friends, Hong Kong and Macao compatriots, becoming an important window for Shanghai to inherit the spirit of internationalism.
"The best memorial is the inheritance, and the best inheritance is to educate the next generation." It is reported that by the end of 2021, the International Committee of China Industrial cooperation has established a total of 19 "internationalist education bases" across the country, of which there are 5 "internationalist education bases" in East China, such as Shanghai Fushouyuan Humanities Memorial Park, Shanghai Hongkou Fire Rescue Station, Xiaxi Primary School in Wujin District, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, China Welfare Association Children's Palace, and Shanghai Soong Ching Ling School, which will become an important position to commemorate international friends, inherit and carry forward the spirit of internationalism in the new era, and carry out people-to-people diplomacy.
