The five elements of bee-luring

The natural group of bees is that every year in the outside world has a rich source of honey, suitable for the season of reproduction, the bee colony will cultivate a new queen, on the eve of the birth of the new king, the old queen bee will lead about half of the members to set up a new home, honey natural group is the only way for honey to reproduce and develop, is a law of nature, we can grasp and use this phenomenon of natural grouping of honey to lure bees.

The five elements of bee-luring

As the spring bee divide season approaches, the bee colony of fast bees will systematically search for and choose new shelters. When the bees are about to split, the colony will first send scout bees out to find a new place to live. Usually only one scout bee finds the bucket of bees we put first, and it will investigate outside and inside the bucket for a while, and if it is not satisfied, it will fly away; if it is satisfied, it will notify the other scout bees to come and inspect, and if the other scout bees are also satisfied, they will "celebrate" together. These satisfied scout bees would happily come and go in and out of the doorway, playing tricks on each other, some fanning or guarding the enclosure at the door. Therefore, there are only three or four reconnaissance bees in the bee trap bucket at the beginning, and if twenty or thirty reconnaissance bees come, it indicates that the bees will soon be successful. Scout bees may also have to try out their new home for three or five days, and when the whole swarm is about to come, these scout bees will suddenly disappear because they all return to the original nest as guides. When the bee is divided, the worker bees of the original nest begin to be restless, many bees are flying densely outside the hive, some of the bees who want to separate the family will fly to the branches near the original nest or the suitable place to form a clump after sucking honey, and the bee colony will begin to move in groups under the guidance of the reconnaissance bees after a short rest, at this time the entire bee colony moves forward while dancing and flying, and the flight speed is slower, which is about the speed of people jogging. If the new home is closer, the bee colony will go straight to the destination, and if it is farther away, the bee colony may reunite and rest again.

Some bee colonies have not yet found a suitable new home before the bees are divided, but the new king will be born again, so the bees will first divide the group and then find a place to live. The separated bees form a cluster nearby, and after the group, the reconnaissance bees are temporarily sent to find a new home. This is why we encounter sub-bee colonies in the wild, the bees are always not clean, there are always some diehards who do not enter the bee bag, and those stubborn elements are the reconnaissance bees that come and go. Such bee colonies stay for a short period of a few hours and then fly away, and the long time will stay for a day.

In addition, let's talk about the bee flight scene, the bee flight is not the same as the swarm. The bees fleeing is when the entire swarm abandons their homes, mainly because the original home is no longer suitable for living. It may be because the old home has been destroyed by nature, or it is too hot, or someone often disturbs it, or there are diseases (nest worms, rotten disease, etc.), or there are natural enemies (Hu Feng, etc.), or there is no honey source around. In this way, the swarm moves, which is called flight.

The five elements of bee-luring

First, the relationship between bee traps and bee sources.

Bee source refers to the place where the bees live, and the bees in these places will divide the bees or escape the bees to form a bee source that attracts the bees. Bee source is the most critical factor in whether the bee can be lured, and the three factors of the bee barrel, bait, and location leave the bee source to lure the bee is empty talk.

Relationship between bee sources and breeding scale and culture methods. Bee sources are mainly divided into domestic bee sources and wild honey bee sources. Domestic beekeeping bee source refers to the beekeeping bee farm built by others or the place where there are amateur beekeepers, of course, the larger the breeding scale, the more bees and escape bees, the greater the success rate of bee-luring; the place where there is a bee farm is greater than the success rate of amateur beekeeping places. Because live frame breeding is easy to manage, easy to manually divide bees, soil culture will be neglected management, so in the case of the same breeding scale, the success rate of soil culture is larger than that of live frame breeding places. In addition to domestic bee bee sources, there are also wild bee bee sources, and when there is no one around to keep bees, you can only rely on wild bee bee sources to lure bees. How can I tell if there are wild bees nearby? You usually pay attention and observe in places where there are flowers to see if there are bees to collect honey or pollen. If you observe bees, there must be honeycomb spots nearby. If you have never seen a bee in all year round, then there must be no bee source nearby, and it is futile to lure bees in a place where there is no bee source.

Second, the relationship between bee traps and seasons.

In winter, there are neither bees nor escaped bees, and even in the vicinity of the bee farm, there is absolutely no bee attracted. So where there are bees, it depends on the season. The phenology of the north and south of China is different, the climate is different every year, and the specific time of the bee-attracting season varies from place to place. The probability of success in the season when the bee splitting or escaping bee event occurs frequently is large. Overall, the golden season of bee-attracting is one month before and after the Qingming Festival and half a month before and after the National Day, which are the two peak periods of bee-splitting. Secondly, July to August is the summer bee escape period, which can also attract bees, but the probability of success of bees is not as great as the golden period of bee traps, and even bad luck may not be able to attract bees.

Third, the relationship between bee traps and bee barrels.

The places suitable for honey in nature are nothing more than rock crevice caves, earth caves and tree caves, and honey's favorite place to live is the tree cave, because the winter is warm and the summer is cool. Why do we find more bees in the wild, fewer tree holes, and fewer earth caves? Because in the natural environment, the rock gap stone cave is the most, suitable for bees to live in the tree cave is not so much, the soil cave is even less, honey in the group really can not find a suitable place to live in the rock cave has to be on the rock gap stone cave.

We want to lure bees, regardless of the material, size, shape of the bucket can be used as a bee trap. Whether it is a wooden barrel, a plastic barrel, an iron barrel, a cardboard box, a round barrel, a square barrel, or a strangely shaped bucket, it can be used as a bee trap bucket. However, to improve the probability of successful bee-attracting, one is to ensure that the bee-trap barrel has no odor, and the other is to ensure that the inside of the bucket is opaque and dark, and the bees feel that the dark places are more secure. Some say he lured bees with a tattered box that leaked on all sides or a box with a pungent smell, but of course this is not impossible. But the probability of a good box luring bees is greater, not that the success rate of poor box bee-luring is zero. Choose a beehive to make the most of it, and use whatever box you have at home, as long as you ensure that there is no odor and good darkness. There is really no beehive, and digging a hole and a stone hole in a good location in the wild can also lure bees. When I say that we can lure bees, I don't mean that we can definitely lure bees by doing that, there is no way to lure bees with 100% ticketing, we just try to increase the probability to 100%.

The new beehive bucket should be soaked in rice water, smoked and other methods, and then coated with beeswax after the odor is completely removed. Special reminder is that the old hive where the bees lived is more ideal for luring bees.

Fourth, the relationship between bee-traps and bait.

The role of the bait is to let the scouting bees in a certain range smell the bait smell, and the bees will come to find out after smelling it, so that it is easier for the bees to find the bee bucket with the bait.

Honey is most likely to attract bees, but because honey contains sugar, it is also easy to attract ants. Pure earth beeswax is second only to honey outside the easy to attract honey another bait, beeswax must be pure, if it contains paraffin or beeswax lure effect will be reduced, not even a little use. After experiments, the attraction of sugar water, citral, geraniol and other substances to bees is not obvious at all, and even bees are blind to the side. I have used honey flavor, honey flavor may also attract bees, but the effect is still not good, not as good as honey for a while, in addition, honey flavor also has a sweet taste, easy to attract ants, there are ants in the box is not willing to come. Bees and pure earth beeswax are the two things that attract bees the best. My recommended method is to brush the beeswax in the bee bucket, fill it with a small glass of honey, seal the cup with plastic wrap or plastic bag, and use a needle to prick some small holes in the plastic film, so that the bees can smell but can't eat. Ants can't get in, they can't eat honey, and ant colonies are not allowed to go in and eat honey.

Another bee bait is the bee orchid, which the Japanese like to use in combination with beeswax and bee orchid. The flowers of the bee orchid can indeed attract many bees, but they will not be used for a long time due to the limited flowering season.

Don't buy any bee water on the Internet, those bee water effect is not good, the bee water contains sugar or honey, after spraying the bees will definitely come back to eat, but after eating it, they will be gone. We lure bees first to attract scouting bees looking for a new home, not to attract some honey bees. Even if you say what pheromones are contained in the bee water and soak a few queen bees, those levels are too low to be negligible. What black wax herbal wax is all ripped eggs, which are useful or earth beeswax in action. Keep in mind that the most effective bait at the moment is pure beeswax.

How to use beeswax. After melting the beeswax, coat the inside of the bee trap bucket thinly, there is no need to apply too thick. If you don't have a lot of beeswax, you can also apply only one layer to the inside of the bee-trap bucket. Make the bees feel like home inside. The outside of the bee trap bucket only paints a large area of the palm around the bee gate, and it is necessary to paint more to facilitate the bees to find the nest door, and do not apply wax outside the bee bucket except for the bee gate area.

Fifth, the relationship between the bee-enticing and the location of the enticing point.

A good location refers to a place where bees are easy to locate and find, and where bees can settle down. First, the location target should be obvious, such as large trees, eaves and stone walls. Second, the front should be open to honey, and the bees should be convenient to enter and exit. There is no large shelter in front, and the bucket should not be placed in weeds or bushes. The third is to be able to shelter from the wind and rain, warm in winter and cool in summer, do not wind and rain in the location, do not be sunburned by the sun all day, and remember not to face west. There are few good locations in the natural environment that meet all these conditions, and without a good location, you need to artificially create a good location, such as you can achieve artificial rain and sun blocking, artificially opening up the front shelter, and artificially digging a hole to lure the bee bucket. If the bee source can, those good gold medal bee-attracting positions can lure several nests of bees a year, and in a good position, even for several consecutive days, they can lure bees and collect nests after nest. In a good position, you can put more than a few bee trap buckets at the same time, you will find that this bucket of bees can not look at, another bucket may be looked at, so that put more bee traps can improve the success rate of bee traps.

Choose a location that is darker than the surrounding light. For example, under a large tree, for example, there is an empty place in a wood, such as under the eaves of a house. These locations have both large targets as positioning markers and meet the conditions of low light and are not constantly illuminated by the sun.

The distance from the location of the bee bucket to the source of the bee should also be exquisite. The enticing point of about 150 meters from the bee source is the best, and the bee colony is likely not to form a clump near the original nest, but to run directly into the bee trap barrel at such a distance. Secondly, the enticing point within 1000 meters of the bee source is also good, and the bees fly into the trap bucket at most once at such a distance. Within 3000 meters (because the bee nesting range is 3 kilometers) can lure bees, but the farther away from the bee source, the larger the square area, the more places the bees choose to settle down, and the success rate of your beehive trap is reduced. It should be reminded that the bee trap barrel is very close to the original nest but cannot lure the bee, the bee will not choose to settle in the trap box that is only 5 meters 6 meters away from the old nest, and the bee trap barrel is at least 20 meters away from the old nest.
