In this way, Han Wei went to the Jin-Cha-Ji front, first as a director of military education at the Military and Political Cadre School of the Jin-Cha-Ji Military Region, and soon as a regimental commander of the Fourth Regiment of the Second Military Sub-district, and later as commander of the Ninth Military Sub-district and commander of the Yanbei Detachment.
After the liberation war began, Han Wei was appointed deputy commander and chief of staff of the second column of the Jin-Cha-Ji Field Army, and he assisted the commander of the second column in fighting the southern protection, attacking Zhengtai, and Dingbao north, and made great contributions in the liberation war.
In February 1949, the North China Field Army completed the task of reorganization, and Han Wei was appointed as the commander of the 67th Army of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
On October 1, 1949, the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China was held, and the Central Military Commission designated Han Wei's 67th Army to refer to it, and the 67th Army led by Han Wei, as the parade party of the People's Liberation Army, was striding through tiananmen Square to accept the inspection of the party and the people.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Han Wei served as the head of the military instructor training class of the Central Military Commission, the principal of the Military Science Normal School, the deputy chief of staff of the North China Military Region, the deputy commander and chief of staff of the Beijing Military Region, and in September 1955, he was awarded the rank of founding lieutenant general and the August 1st Medal of the First Class, the Order of Independence and Freedom of the First Class, and the Liberation Medal of the First Class.
