According to Agence France-Presse on January 5, a poor old woman in India, who claimed that her husband was a descendant of the last emperor, filed a lawsuit with the court, demanding that the government recognize her royal status and return the palace where the emperor had previously lived, the Red Fort in Delhi.
The old lady, Sultana Begum, is 71 years old. She lives in slums on the outskirts of Kolkata and lives on a meager pension.

Began asked, "Can you imagine that the descendants of the emperors who built the Taj Mahal are now living in extreme poverty?" ”
In 1965, at the age of 14, Began reportedly married Mirza Mohammad Bedar Bakht. Her husband, 32 years older than her, makes a living on divination and earns a meager income to support his family. The family was very poor.
When her husband died in 1980, Began has been living in slums on a $80 (about 509 yuan) a monthly pension.
However, it is rumored that her husband was a great-grandson of the Mughal royal family, india's last empire, and is said to be of descent dating back to the last Mughal emperor, Muhammad Bahadur Shah Zafar (also known as Bahadur Shah Azafar II).
Over the past 10 years, Begun has repeatedly demanded that the Indian authorities recognize her royal status and compensate her.
Meanwhile, Began has filed a legal action to recognize her as the owner of the Red Fort in Delhi.
Located in Delhi, India, the Red Fort was built in the 17th century as the royal palace of the Mughal period by the fifth emperor, Shah Jahan. The Red Fort in Delhi, a symbol of the power of the Mughal Dynasty, took nearly 10 years to build, and was named the Red Fort because the entire main body of the building was reddish-brown.
In response to Began's lawsuit, the Delhi High Court dismissed her petition on the grounds of a "serious waste of time".
As to whether Began is the heir of royal blood, the court did not rule on whether it was legal.
According to historical records, after the decline of the Mughal Empire, India eventually became a British colony, and the last emperor, Bahadur Shah Azafar II, was exiled by the British colonial authorities. Azafar II is said to have had 10 sons, all of whom were executed by the British.
