There have been many movements in the history of our country, and the more famous of them is the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement. Due to the excessive corruption of the Qing government at that time, social unrest was caused by the people. Some of the people, dissatisfied with the corrupt rule of the Qing government, chose to revolt, and since then the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement broke out, which lasted for 14 years.
1. The Fourteen-Year-Long Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement
After the Opium War, China degenerated into a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society. At that time, the Western countries relied on the Treaty of Nanking and a series of other unequal treaties to wantonly infringe on them from all sides. Moreover, these Western countries also demanded that the Qing government spend a large amount of silver in the name of compensation, which also caused the Qing government at that time to fall into a financial deficit.
Subsequently, the Qing government adopted the method of increasing taxes, which for a time led to an extremely difficult situation in people's lives, and further aggravated the domestic class contradictions. Since then, movements have erupted again and again, and the resistance struggle has risen one after another.
In the 30th year of Daoguang, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement led by Hong Xiuquan broke out, which was also the largest anti-Qing movement in China in the mid-19th century. The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement was a simple peasant war, but it also carried the nature of an old bourgeois democratic revolution, and it can be said that the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement was the prelude to the old democratic revolution in China's modern history.
It was also the outbreak of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement that inspired the Chinese people to persist in their struggle against the feudal dynasty. After half a century of Rule by the Qing Government, the Xinhai Revolution finally broke out. Although the Taiping Rebellion persisted for 14 years, it still ended in failure.
However, this movement successfully accelerated the collapse of feudal society and effectively prevented the further development of China's colonization. In this movement, there were many capable generals, and one of the more famous generals was named Lin Fengxiang.
2. Lin Fengxiang was escorted into the capital
Lin Fengxiang was a former general in the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement and the commander of the Northern Expedition. In his early years, he participated in the Jintian Uprising. In January 253, Lin Fengxiang led his army to Nanjing, and then went east to Zhenjiang and Yangzhou. In May, following the plans of Hong Xiuquan and Yang Xiuqing, he arrived in Jinghai, Tianjin, in October.
But unexpectedly, in the process of waiting for reinforcements, the messenger was arrested on the way. Therefore, Lin Fengxiang and his troops had not waited for the news of reinforcements, and at this time, Li Fengxiang's troops were short of food and grass, and their troops were also insufficient.
In the end, there was no way, he could only lead the troops to retreat south. In the process, he was pursued by the Qing army, and he led his troops to defeat the besieged Qing army many times and get rid of the Pursuit of the Qing army. Only then the Xianfeng Emperor sent the monk Gelinqin, who was a fierce general of the Qing government at that time, and it was precisely because of his presence that Lin Fengxiang's troops were intercepted outside Yanjing.
In fact, at that time, Lin Fengxiang's troops were already at the end of the strong crossbow, because Lin Fengxiang and most of the soldiers in his troops were people from the Jiangnan region, and there was no way to adapt to the cold weather on yanjing. At the same time, due to the shortage of grain and grass, it further led to the decline of the Taiping Army. In desperation, Lin Fengxiang chose to evacuate Yanjing and waited for the arrival of reinforcements to attack Yanjing together with reinforcements.
However, Lin Fengxiang did not wait for reinforcements in the end, and what was waiting for them was the army led by the monk Greenqin. At that time, the monk Greenqin already knew about the lack of grain and grass in Lin Fengxiang's troops, so he chose to surround Lin Fengxiang's troops and wanted to use this way to exhaust the Northern Expeditionary Army, but even in this case, Lin Fengxiang and his troops still insisted for 9 months.
In these 9 months, Lin Fengxiang has been in a state of fighting alone, but he is still gritting his teeth and insisting. In the end, lin Fengxiang led the Northern Expeditionary Army to take the initiative. In this war, there were many casualties, and Lin Fengxiang was seriously injured, so the two-year-long Northern Expedition came to an end.
In order not to be a prisoner of the Qing army, Lin Fengxiang quietly hid in the tunnel and wanted to commit suicide by taking poison. But it was a pity that a traitor in Lin Fengxiang's army exposed Lin Fengxiang's position. Subsequently, Lin Fengxiang was discovered by the Qing army, and at this time, Lin Fengxiang had already taken poison and was almost able to commit suicide. Unfortunately, the Qing army then used various methods to save Lin Fengxiang. In this way, Lin Fengxiang was escorted to Beijing.
Lin Fengxiang's bravery and good warfare attracted the attention of the then emperor Xianfeng Emperor, so when Lin Fengxiang was escorted to Beijing, the Xianfeng Emperor deliberately stood at the noon gate and took a long look at the famous Xiao Yong good war general. To this day, people don't know what the Xianfeng Emperor saw at that time, he just stood on the noon gate for a long time without speaking, and looked at the general from a distance.
3. Lin Fengxiang was executed by Ling Chi
To say that Lin Fengxiang is not very different from ordinary Jiangnan people in appearance, his height is not high, and his appearance is also very ordinary. Probably due to the problem of insufficient food and grass in the last war, his whole person looked very emaciated, and it was his current miserable image that had an impact on the Xianfeng Emperor.
Perhaps in the impression of the Xianfeng Emperor, this brave general should be very brave and powerful, but after seeing the real person, he found that this was just an ordinary person, which also made the Xianfeng Emperor very confused. Why would such an ordinary person be so disgusted with the Qing government that he would attack Yanjing even if he died?
The Xianfeng Emperor stood at the noon gate and guessed a lot, and also thought a lot. And all these thoughts made the Xianfeng Emperor shudder, and finally the Xianfeng Emperor himself walked back to the palace and sat in the palace for a long time without saying a word.
Finally, the Xianfeng Emperor sighed and ordered Lin Fengxiang Lingchi to be executed. Lin Fengxiang has to say that he is a real warrior, he was only 31 years old when he was executed, which is a good year in life. Ling Chi's execution can be said to be a rather torturous method of execution.
But in this process, Li Fengxiang actually did not say a word, he used silence to express his silent confrontation. He used his actions to show his righteousness and his silent resistance to the Qing government.
4. Summary
In that era, it was precisely because there were countless poor peasants like Lin Fengxiang, who no longer endured oppression and bravely revolted, that the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement was launched. The outbreak of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement also inspired the awakening of the nation.
Although the Taiping Rebellion ended in failure, its impact was enormous. The people who participated in the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement used their own blood to awaken the closed people at that time and gave them the courage to break through oppression and darkness.
