Seeing the side of Zheng Huilian's old man is not easy...

The 96-year-old health care specialist has arranged the daily itinerary to the fullest: free clinics for children, lectures for everyone, learning the latest medical knowledge..." Please sit down. In Zheng Huilian's office, when she saw the reporter coming, she put down the book in her hand and stood up to shake hands, warm and powerful.

2022 is zheng huilian's sixty-sixth year in Chongqing. In 1956, together with more than 400 teachers and students, she came to Chongqing from Shanghai and has since taken root in the southwest, participated in the creation of the Children's Hospital Affiliated to Chongqing Medical University, and dealt with children all her life and became a happy practitioner of medicine.

"To be a pediatrician, in addition to having medical skills, you must also know more"

Zheng Huilian was born in the war-torn era, "watching many people around him, especially children, lose their lives due to lack of medical treatment and medicine..." Recalling the past, Zheng Huilian frowned, and his 3 sisters and brothers also died of illness when they were young.

Since then, the idea of studying medicine has become a constantly burning flame in Zheng Huilian's heart...

With this belief, in 1944, Zheng Huilian was admitted to the National Shanghai Medical College (the predecessor of the Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University). After graduation, she worked in the Pediatric Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai First Medical College and started her career as a pediatrician.

"The motherland calls on the vast number of young people to support the southwest, are you willing to go to Chongqing to support the construction of a pediatric hospital?" In 1955, a multiple choice question was placed in front of Zheng Huilian: stay, you can work and live in a place you are familiar with; moving west can support the construction of the southwest medical system and ensure the health of more children. Zheng Huilian did not hesitate: "At the beginning of 1956, I remember that it was the third day of the Chinese New Year, and I came to Chongqing. ”

When he first arrived in Chongqing, Zheng Huilian was very uncomfortable--he did not understand the dialect, the uneven road, and the different eating habits..." From the intersection of the two roads to Guanyin Rock, he had to climb more than 200 steps. Blood blisters appeared on his feet, so he took off his shoes and continued walking barefoot. She didn't care about any of this, and only thought about the construction of the children's hospital.

At that time, the children's hospital was still a blank piece of paper, how to build? As the only doctor in the preparatory group, Zheng Huilian thought that although he could learn from Shanghai's experience, "it could not be copied, and it was far from enough." To this end, she visited the pediatric departments of major local hospitals. Do research, ask the process, learn the rules, from the size of the bed, medical equipment, to the doctor's prescription note, the nurse's temperature sheet... Zheng Huilian is not only concerned about medical affairs, the overall construction of the hospital, Zheng Huilian also carefully inquired, afraid of missing a little and a half.

Six months later, the Children's Hospital Affiliated to Chongqing Medical College opened, and patients poured into the hospital. As the only attending physician in the hospital, Zheng Hui hurriedly turned around. "To be a pediatrician, in addition to having medical skills, you must also know more." Although busy, Zheng Huilian still took the time to create a supplementary meal system and a pre-diagnosis system for pediatrics, and the system and norms of children's hospitals were gradually established...

"We are dealing with children and must be highly responsible"

Once walking on the road, not far from the corner, crouched a thin little girl. Zheng Huilian saw it, and muttered in his heart: "Is it uncomfortable?" Seeing the little girl's father next to her, Zheng Hui rushed over, introduced herself, and also said the doubts in her heart...

At this time, the little girl's father suddenly grabbed Zheng Huilian's arm: "After seeing a lot of doctors, I don't know what the disease is, can you help me?" "Through careful examination, it was determined that the little girl was a child with hypothyroidism. Thanks to the timely treatment, the little girl gradually recovered and is now an adult and lives an ordinary life.

This little girl is just one of the many children that Zheng Huilian has treated. After a long time, Zheng Huilian thought: "The child's illness can't be seen all." ”

"We must put more effort into the prevention stage." By the end of the 1970s, the concept of "child health care" entered Zheng Huilian's vision. At that time, child health care was still in its infancy in the country, and there was no experience to learn from. Zheng Huilian led the team to set up a child health education and research department, which has been doing for decades.

In order to fill the gap in the field of child health care as soon as possible, Zheng Huilian read a large number of medical books and literature, and gradually accumulated experience from clinical practice. The first edition of the former Ministry of Health (now the National Health Commission) National College Planning Textbook "Child Health Care" was organized and edited by Zheng Huilian.

Every time for the children's examination, she rubbed her hands warm and then palpated, the students also learned From Professor Zheng, often carrying a warm water bag in their hands; some parents lacked common sense of child health care, Zheng Hui was even more anxious than her parents, but when she turned her head, she would patiently tell them about the precautions... "We are facing children, we must be highly responsible, not only must we be technically strong, but also have a better attitude." ”

In the eyes of others, child health care work is very cumbersome, how to feed, how to do a good nutritional balance, how to develop a good character... But in Zheng Huilian's eyes, this is something that will benefit children for a lifetime, no matter how trivial, it is worth it.

"I would like to be a happy practitioner for a lifetime"

As he approached the age of Flowers, Zheng Huilian had a new task.

In the 1980s, Zheng Huilian led the team to go abroad for four times. Proficient in English, she "makes up lessons" for Chinese students every night, translates the day's learning courses and shares them with everyone. Community child care, management of disabled children, the world's women and children's work dynamics... After returning to China, Zheng Huilian has more clearly defined the research direction of children's health care, and has also launched more influential achievements in the industry.

After retiring, she moved her free clinic to the mountains. From the city, take a car for 6 hours, get off in Chengkou County; in this small county town located deep in the Daba Mountains, Zheng Huilian sat in the clinic for a month and taught local doctors to do child health care by hand: "It takes 40 minutes to see a child, and it takes another hour to talk to parents. ”

Free clinics, lectures, conferences... Zheng Huilian has not been idle, even at the age of 90, she does not stop. Every time she gave a lecture on the PPT, Zheng Huilian had to think about it for a long time in front of the computer.

Now, she can't spare herself, and has opened an online consultation.

"Professor Zheng, what should I do if my child is 6 months old and can't sit steadily?"

"Professor Zheng, what if the baby is more than one year old and doesn't want to wash his hair?"

Many young people have no experience in parenting, "no matter how simple the question is, you must be patient to answer." Zheng Huilian went online on time every day and gave netizens support, "It is endlessly fun to be able to pass on what you have learned all your life to young parents and help them raise a healthy and happy baby!"

In 2012, Zheng Huilian, who has been engaged in pediatric health care, teaching and scientific research for more than half a century, won the "National Child Health Care Physician Lifetime Achievement Award".

"When children are healthy, the country is more hopeful." Zheng Huilian said that some of the children she received had become mothers, and now they brought their children to her for child care, which made her feel relieved, "I am willing to be a happy practitioner for a lifetime."
