When it comes to the ming dynasty kings with different surnames, many people will think of Mu Ying, the king of Qianning, Zheng Chenggong, the king of Yanping, etc. In fact, during the Zhu Yuanzhang period, the first person to be named a king with a different surname was Guo Zixing. Zhu Yuanzhang called himself empress, grateful for the kindness of his father-in-law Guo Zixing, posthumously named his father-in-law the "King of Chuyang", and built a temple for Guo Zixing in Chuzhou, offering sacrifices every year, from the third year of Hongwu to the fall of the Ming Dynasty, the Chuyang King Temple continued to burn incense for 273 years. Guo Zixing was also the first king of Zhu Yuanzhang's title. However, although Guo Zixing was very kind to Zhu Yuanzhang, Zhu Yuanzhang killed all his sons and married his daughters.
Guo Zixing was a hero in the last years of the Yuan Dynasty. When Han Shantong revolted in Yingzhou, Guo Zixing took the lead in responding, leading the Red Turban Army to occupy Haozhou, and was named the Marshal of the Red Turban Army in Haozhou by Han Shantong. In the years since, Guo Zixing has recruited soldiers for the Red Turban Army, and it can also be regarded as a foundation. At this moment, Zhu Yuanzhang came out of the Huangjue Temple and joined the Red Turban Army, which was appreciated by Guo Zixing.
Zhu Yuanzhang was born poor, and the reason why he was valued by Guo Zixing was because Zhu Yuanzhang was decisive in doing things, and on the other hand, because Zhu Yuanzhang knew a few words in the Huangjue Temple, which was considered to be "half a cultural person" and belonged to the scarce "species" at that time. Guo Zixing made Zhu Yuanzhang the leader of his Janissaries, and later saw that Zhu Yuanzhang was a talent, so he married his adopted daughter to Zhu Yuanzhang, who was later Empress Ma.
Guo Zixing had a total of 3 sons and 2 daughters, the eldest son died early, after Zhu Yuanzhang married one of his daughters, Guo Zixing also had a second son Guo Tianxu, the third son Guo Tianjue, and the younger daughter Guo Shi (just born). After Guo Zixing's death, Guo Tianxu served as a marshal, and Zhu Yuanzhang served as the left deputy marshal. When Guo Zixing was still alive, Guo Tianxu was embarrassed by Zhu Yuanzhang everywhere, and after Guo Zixing's death, Guo Tianxu tried to get rid of Zhu Yuanzhang, but he did not expect to be attacked by Zhu Yuanzhang in advance.
Zhu Yuanzhang sent his confidant general Chen Yexian to invite Guo Tianxu to a banquet, and Guo Tianshu was killed at this "Hongmen banquet". Then Zhu Yuanzhang came out to save the scene, in order to extinguish the mouth, Chen Yexian was also killed by Zhu Yuanzhang, and Guo Tianxu died in Zhu Yuanzhang's plan of "borrowing a knife to kill people".
After Guo Tianxu's death, the Red Turban Army in Haozhou became Zhu Yuanzhang's "Zhu Family Army", Guo Zixing's younger son Guo Tianjue was young, Zhu Yuanzhang named him the Right Minister, but Guo Tianjue only lived one year longer than his brother, and the next year, Zhu Yuanzhang killed Guo Tianjue on the grounds that Guo Tianjue "defected". It is worth mentioning that Zhu Yuanzhang killed these two brothers of Empress Ma, and Empress Ma was supportive, so it can be seen that perhaps Guo Tianxu and Guo Tianjue really want to kill Zhu Yuanzhang, and Zhu Yuanzhang was only forced to fight back.
Zhu Yuanzhang went through a total of 15 years from marrying Emperor Ma to establishing the Ming Dynasty, and 15 years later, the Ming Dynasty was established, and Guo Zixing's younger daughter, Empress Ma's sister Guo Shi, was 15 years old. As Zhu Yuanzhang's sister-in-law, many generals coveted it, but Zhu Yuanzhang was not polite, and after three years of Hongwu, Zhu Yuanzhang incorporated the Guo clan into the harem and named guo huifei.
After Guo Huifei entered the palace, she was very favored and gave birth to 3 sons and two daughters for Zhu Yuanzhang, the eldest of whom was Zhu Chun, the King of Shu. Because Empress Ma was only Guo Zixing's adopted daughter, Guo Huifei was Guo Zixing's flesh and blood. Therefore, after Zhu Chun reached the age of 14, he would go to Chuzhou every year to worship Guo Zixing, after all, Guo Zixing was Zhu Chun's maternal grandfather.
To sum up, Guo Zixing's eldest son died early, his two sons were killed by Zhu Yuanzhang, and his two daughters were married by Zhu Yuanzhang. As the first king of the Ming Dynasty, Guo Zixing was enshrined by the Ming Dynasty for 273 years, and his fate was lucky or unfortunate?
