Zhang Zuolin's original wife, and Zhang Xueliang's biological mother, Zhao Shi, died of illness on April 15, 1912, at the age of 38, in the old mansion of Xingnuo Hutong in Xinminfu. Zhang's illness belongs to the fire is difficult to extinguish, depressed into a disease, to put it bluntly, it is to die of anger, and the person who is angry with her is naturally her husband Zhang Zuolin. Zhao is the second daughter of Zhao Zhanyuan, a wealthy household in The Zhao Family Temple in Heishan County, whose real name is Zhao Chungui. When she married Zhang Zuolin, Zhang Zuolin was nothing and gambled all day. Later, with the help of his father-in-law Zhao Zhanyuan, he set up an insurance team, which is considered to be a livelihood for eating.
Zhang Zuolin and Zhao Shi
Zhao Shi can be regarded as a good wife and mother, she not only raised two sons and a daughter for Zhang Zuolin, but also often came forward to mediate the contradictions between him and his brothers. When Zhang Zuolin was young, he was a violent temper, and when he had differences of opinion with his brothers, he scolded and fought with his hands when he opened his mouth, especially with Tang Erhu, who was stubborn and stubborn, and often quarreled. Whenever this time came, Zhao Shi would come out to the brothers to comfort each other, scolding Zhang Zuolin for not being a personal temper, hoping that the brothers would not see him in general. These brothers are all from banditry, eating soft and not eating hard, Zhao Clan said that everyone's anger will be smooth. Tang Erhu often praised Zhao's virtuousness for this, and he took a lot of pains in Zhang Zuolin's interpersonal relationships.
Insurance team
Zhang Zuolin started with the "insurance team", step by step, and the women also married at home one by one. For Zhang Zuolin's concubine, Zhao Shi still showed great generosity at first, but as Zhang Zuolin married four aunts and wives in a row, it made it a little difficult for her to accept, so she and Zhang Zuolin often quarreled and contradicted each other. In 1909, after Zhang Zuolin destroyed Tao Ke Tao Hu, he garrisoned Tao Nan Province, at this time the relationship between Zhao and Zhang Zuolin deteriorated day by day, and her life in northern Liaoning was somewhat unsatisfactory, so despite the persuasion of everyone, she returned to the old residence of Xinmin Mansion with her children.
Zhao and his children
After the Wuchang Uprising, Zhang Zuolin seized military power in Fengtian by suppressing the revolutionary party. After gaining a foothold in Fengtian, he wrote a letter asking Zhao to come to Fengtian to stay, and Zhao then came to the palace with his second son Zhang Xueming. When she was not at home, Zhang Zuolin was not at home, and the other people in the family heard that the eldest wife was coming, and they came to greet and ask for An, but the fifth aunt, Mrs. Taishou, did not take her seriously, and let the old mother Wang Shi go to ask for Ann for herself. Wang's early years as an old bustard in a brothel, the quality is not high, she is favored by Zhang Zuolin with her daughter, and speaks softly and rudely to Zhao, which makes Zhao feel that her identity as the eldest wife has been insulted, and she is very angry.
In the evening, Zhang Zuolin returned, and after learning about this matter, he did not do anything wrong, but neither blamed Lady Shou nor comforted Zhao Shi, which made Zhao Shi even more annoyed. Zhang Zuolin has always disliked his second son Zhang Xueming, and Xueming is not used to sleeping in a new environment at night, crying incessantly, waking Zhang Zuolin up. Zhang Zuolin ran out of the room angrily, and without saying a word, he beat Xueming up. Zhao Shi was completely enraged when he saw this, and he had a big fight with Zhang Zuolin, which was the fiercest and last time since the two people got married. At dawn the next day, Zhao Shi returned to Xinmin Mansion with Xueming, and after returning, he fell ill, and in less than a year, the treatment was ineffective, and he died.
When Zhang Zuolin learned the news of Zhao's death, he recalled Zhao's kindness and love for himself in those years, and he was sad for a while. Even more sad than Zhang Zuolin was his mother, Mrs. Wang, who was heartbroken when she heard the bad news of her daughter-in-law's death, washed her face with tears all day, and died of excessive sadness a year later. Before her death, Lady Wang thanked Zhao for her kindness to the Zhang family, and left a last word, instructing her son Zhang Zuolin not to be buried with her deceased husband Zhang Youcai after her death, but to be buried with her daughter-in-law Zhao Shi and accompany her forever. Subsequently, Zhang Zuolin complied with his mother's last wishes and escorted his coffin to Liaoxi Stagecoach, where he was buried with his wife Zhao Shi, who had died a year earlier.
