Hong Kong, January 14 (China News Network) -- In order to welcome the arrival of the Lunar New Year (Year of the Tiger), Hong Kong's New Art Wave Gallery has launched the "Making Music in the Tiger: Happy New Year Painting Exhibition", which showcases more than 30 New Year paintings by 15 Hong Kong and Taiwanese artists.

The exhibition brought together 15 artists from Hong Kong and Taiwan, including veteran artists who have been in the art world for decades, mature Mesozoic artists, as well as rising young art talents and art students who are just beginning to show their talents, and this group of artists celebrated the Year of the Tiger with ink, printmaking, rock painting and calligraphy.

According to the organizers, the New Year painting is a traditional folk art unique to China, which originated from the Northern Song Dynasty of the Five Dynasties. In the early days, people would put on auspicious patterns for home decoration during the Spring Festival, including blessings for the auspicious New Year and driving away evil spirits. With the evolution of the years, today's New Year paintings are richer in terms of expression, creative medium and subject matter.

The reporter saw at the scene that Taiwanese artist Xu Yixuan's "Tiger Star High Illumination" was taken from the image of General Hu Ye in Taiwan's first caishen temple, "Beigang Wude Palace", and looked forward to the blessing of Tiger Ye Fu Xing, the tiger (Fu) star in the coming year, and a bumper harvest. Hong Kong artist Lam King-ting used childlike and auspicious tiger-related selections to create a set of traditional children's play cards, the 尪仔標, praying that everyone in the Year of the Tiger can have fun in the "tiger" in food, clothing, shelter and travel, and life is full of joy.

Ink artist Yan Wenhui recalls the happy moments of painting flowers as a child, and uses a colorful flower picture "Happy Smile II" to send positive energy to the New Year. Another ink artist, Luo Zhaoting, wrote about 6 carps with a strange and cute appearance, wishing everyone more than one year and six and six infinity. Calligraphy and ink artist Xu Peizhi wrote the strong and powerful "tiger" character in Su ink and sprinkled it with gold powder, which is the only calligraphy work in this exhibition.

The exhibition will end on January 25. (End)
