Phrases such as "those who win the hearts and minds of the people will win the world" and "the tyrants in the chaotic world" have become synonymous with the Three Kingdoms period. At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the crowd competed for supremacy, and countless heroes and heroes came out one after another, adding endless interest and points of interest to the epic drama of the Three Kingdoms at that time.
Whether it is Mr. Wolong, who is strategic, or Pang Tong, who judges the world, he is a representative of the wisdom of the Three Kingdoms period, and some people say: If you have one of them, you can settle the world.
Such an aura of wisdom is only the tip of the iceberg of the Three Kingdoms period. Wen has Wolong Fengchi, Wu yu Lübu, and the representatives of the martial generals are Wusheng Guan Yu and Lü Bu, who is invincible. However, at that time, there was also a person who could be called both a tyrant and a traitor - Dong Zhuo.
Dong Zhuo's ambition
Dong Zhuo was born into a powerful family, and their clan lived in a remote area adjacent to the Qiang people in the northwest. Due to the family's atmosphere and education, Dong Zhuo has been arrogant and very delicate since he was a child, although he has a very serious aristocratic disease, but his physical fitness and brain are first-class.
He has a tiger-backed bear waist, not only has extraordinary brute force but also is proficient in martial arts, good at riding and shooting, and can open the bow left and right at once. These own skills have made the Qiang people feel awe, and Dong Zhuo's own family is also strong and powerful, and has a lot of influence in the region.
The combination of various factors makes the Qiang people dare not provoke Dong Zhuo, and often need to please Dong Zhuo. Such a phenomenon gradually became common among the Qiang people, and Dong Zhuo became the object of great reverence of the Qiang people, some of them were stubborn, and some of them avoided it.
Dong Zhuo was also very happy with the attitude of the Qiang people, because this was what he needed, and he wanted to slowly expand his sphere of influence to the entire northwest region, so as to become the only warlord in the region.
In the process of making friends with the Qiang people, Dong Zhuo has always been stingy about silver and money. However, whenever the Qiang people came to Dong Zhuo's mansion as a guest, Dong Zhuo took the initiative to slaughter cattle and sheep, and no matter what kind of identity the Qiang people came, they would get an equal attitude in Dong Zhuo's mansion.
According to historical records, when Dong Zhuo was invited to a guest, he was found by a handsome man that there were not many cattle and sheep in his home, so the handsome man brought thousands of cattle and sheep from thousands of miles away to repay Dong Zhuo's favor.
Dong Zhuo's bold personality gradually attracted more Qiang people to take the initiative to visit, and his image also changed from a son of an aristocratic family to an approachable hero, and his bold personality was sought after by most of the Qiang people.
In addition to treating people with arrogance, Dong Zhuo will also receive and take in some wandering frustrated people, who are deeply favored by Dong Zhuo, and from the moment they are influenced by Dong Zhuo, they choose to follow Dong Zhuo with a dead heart. All these heroic deeds have made Dong Zhuo the most influential person in the Qiang clan.
As the friction between the Qiang and the Eastern Han court became more and more intense, the Qiang people became more and more dissatisfied with the oppression and exploitation of the Eastern Han court, and soon riots broke out, at this time when the eastern Han Dynasty was the weakest, and the sudden outbreak of the Qiang people caught the imperial court by surprise, and they hurriedly thought about the candidates for suppression.
Although the Eastern Han Dynasty had become a pot of porridge, the bureaucrats in the northwest region were not very panicked, because they already had candidates for suppression. At the recommendation of bureaucrats in the northwest region, Dong Zhuo, who was well aware of the habits of the Qiang people, was pushed to the throne and went to Longxi to suppress the Qiang people.
After Dong Zhuo became a member of the suppression of Longxi, he used his extraordinary martial arts. On the battlefield, relying on their understanding of the Qiang people and their own strength, they defeated the rebellious Qiang people many times.
As Dong Zhuo's military achievements became more and more, the imperial court arranged corresponding positions for him, and the position was gradually promoted, and Dong Zhuo's power also expanded, and the Eastern Han Dynasty also discovered this, but at that time, the Eastern Han Dynasty was already inseparable from Dong Zhuo's force.
Did he kill Dong Zhuo or degrade Dong Zhuo's official position? For a time, it was difficult for the Eastern Han Dynasty to choose. After Dong Zhuo sensed Chaotang's thoughts, he led his troops to Hedong and prepared to wait for the opportunity.
Dong Zhuo's three major sins
In the sixth year of Zhongping (189), the Han Ling Emperor died, and the young Liu Yan ascended the throne, but because of his young age, he could only be regent by the empress dowager. At this time, it was Dong Zhuo's best chance to attack, and he achieved the status of an extremely popular minister in one fell swoop.
In the first year of Zhongping (184), Dong Zhuo once led troops to Luoyang to suppress the unrest and save the Shao Emperor. His actions also brought his fame and exploits to the peak, and he then claimed that he and Empress Dong were a group of people with a more powerful background.
After having enough qualifications, Dong Zhuo began to interfere in the government affairs of the court, and he had the right to fight back all the folds that he did not like and did not like with his wishes, and even find someone who played the folds to settle the account.
In Dong Zhuo's cognition, in a few years, Liu Yan's and guan's years would become a threat to him, so he pulled Liu Xian from the throne and deposed him as the King of Hongnong.
Liu Became the only emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty to be deposed. Dong Zhuo was still uneasy after deposing Liu Yan, so he ordered someone to threaten Liu Yan, and finally forced Liu Yan to commit suicide. After Liu Xian's death, Dong Zhuo's heart was also put down, and he then established Liu Xie as emperor and called him Emperor Xian of Han.
Although Emperor Xian of Han was an emperor, this was only a nominal title, and in fact the court of the Eastern Han Dynasty was still controlled by Dong Zhuo, which was Dong Zhuo's crime - to cause chaos in the dynasty.
After becoming the de facto ruler of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Dong Zhuo began his own atrocities. Dong Zhuo indulged his desires in the palace, and all the palace ladies he looked up to could not escape his luck, in addition to indulging his lust, he also spread his violence among the people.
Dong Zhuo often indulged his Qiang soldiers, most of whom burned and plundered in Luoyang, did no evil, and also took pleasure in killing people, Dong Zhuo not only did not severely punish such behavior, but also personally encouraged and joined the atrocities of the Qiang soldiers, which was Dong Zhuo's second crime - perverse behavior.
This kind of ruler made the courtiers more and more resistant and dissatisfied, and such a situation was also seen by Dong Zhuo, so Dong Zhuo specially put down a "Hongmen Banquet" to invite officials from all walks of life to the banquet. It seems to be a banquet, but in fact, it is Dong Zhuo's execution ground that once again uses violence to suppress people.
Dong Zhuo thoroughly demonstrated his anti-human behavior at this banquet: drinking and killing. And this point undoubtedly reflects Dong Zhuo's third crime - wanton behavior, violent and very violent.
After committing various sins, Dong Zhuo was finally beheaded by his "righteous son" Lü Bu in the third year of Chuping (192), and after his death, he was made into a sky lantern by the corpse guards.
Dong Zhuo is a brave and resourceful person, but he lacks humanity and morality, and when he has not yet sought power, he can also be regarded as a tyrant, but his various acts in the court also show that Dong Zhuo is indeed a traitor, and the three wrong things are also the retribution for his tragic end.
