Sales of new energy vehicles reached 475,000 units, up 128.9% year-on-year and 25.5% month-on-month. In 2021, when the overall car market is not optimistic, new energy vehicles have such a market performance, which can be regarded as a different kind of surprise.
The rise of new energy vehicles is eroding the territory of traditional fuel vehicles. In the retail sales ranking of new energy manufacturers from January to December 2021, it can be seen that many independent brands such as BYD, SAIC-GM-Wuling, Geely and so on have a year-on-year increase of more than 150% in the new energy market. In 2021, BYD is undoubtedly the biggest winner in the new energy vehicle market, with cumulative sales of more than 580,000 vehicles, ranking first in the list. The cumulative sales of Great Wall Motor, GAC Aegean and SAIC Passenger Vehicles also exceeded 110,000 units at the end of the year.
From the retail sales list of new energy manufacturers in December 2021, it is not difficult to see BYD's dominance in the field of new energy vehicles. In December, sales of 92,775 vehicles increased by 231.9% year-on-year, and even Tesla, the original giant in the new energy automobile industry, opened up a gap of more than 20,000 vehicles. SAIC-GM-Wuling sold more than 430,000 vehicles from January to December, and more than 90% of the 54,632 vehicles in December were contributed by Hongguang MINI EV, which won the domestic new energy vehicle sales championship for 14 consecutive months, and has been listed so far. However, such a model, which some people have become a "national stagnant car" or some people call it "the old man who can be licensed", firmly grasps the field of low-end models. However, SAIC-GM-Wuling only relies on the Hongguang MINI model, which is far from enough.
In the retail sales list of new energy cars, Hongguang MINI's cumulative sales from January to December 395451; BYD Qin's cumulative sales from January to December 187227; Tesla Model 3's cumulative sales from January to December were 150,890 units. Among them, Hongguang MINI and BYD Qin both increased by more than 250% year-on-year, while the rest of the car models did not cross the threshold of 150,000 vehicles per year. In the top 15 of the list, BYD has three models on the list: BYD Qin, BYD Han, ANDD e2. Among them, it is worth noting that in the entire list, independent brands occupy the vast majority of seats, which allows us to see the strength of independent brands in the field of new energy vehicles.
In the list of retail sales of new energy cars in December, 8 models achieved monthly sales of a single model exceeding 10,000. Compared with last month, only 3 models have made a big breakthrough, but it also confirms the current hotness of the new energy vehicle market. Interestingly, Tesla Model 3 sold only 8615 vehicles last month, and this month it came to the second position of the list, with sales reaching 30102 in December, and taking a "roller coaster".
Looking at the new energy SUV sales ranking from January to December, Tesla Model Y became the top seller in this segment with 169853 units, and it is also the only new energy SUV model that breaks through the annual sales of 150,000 units. BYD Song's cumulative sales from January to December 104244, an increase of 444.7% year-on-year. Moreover, bydy Tang, which is also a dynasty series, has sold 50,116 vehicles in January-December; BYD has sold 40,534 vehicles from January to December, both of which have increased by more than 120% year-on-year. Bydir's outstanding performance must have begun to pressure Tesla as well.
As an ideal car for a new car-making force, the ideal CAR, with its only model on sale, the Ideal ONE, sold 14,087 units in December and 90,491 units from January to December. However, no car company in the new car manufacturing force can sell more than 100,000 vehicles.
The Volkswagen series ID.4 X and ID.4 CROZZ have been on the market for less than a year, and the annual sales have exceeded 20,000 units, and it is believed that with the deepening of Volkswagen's electrification layout in the future, it will bring higher sales growth.
In December, the penetration rate of new energy models in domestic retail reached 22.6%, and the penetration rate of January-December also reached 14.8%, which was a significant increase compared with 2020. The penetration rate of new energy vehicles in independent brands is 39%, while the penetration rate of new energy models of mainstream joint venture brands is only 3.3%, and consumers are more willing to believe in independent brands when purchasing new energy models.
