Yunnan Province has entered a stage of rapid development of population aging, and the development of medical and health services for the elderly is an important safeguard measure to cope with aging. At present, the lack of legal and planning support for elderly medical and health services, the serious shortage of medical service capacity for the elderly, and the relative shortage of medical and health resources for the elderly have restricted the development of medical and health services for the elderly.
In the "Proposal on Improving the Supply Level of Medical and Health Services for the Elderly in Yunnan", the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the China Association for the Advancement of Democracy suggested that the construction of the elderly health service system should be promoted from a high level at the level of laws and regulations, the elderly health service system should be scientifically standardized, and an integrated and hierarchical elderly health service system should be established. Support the construction and development of the provincial geriatric hospital, establish the Yunnan Geriatric Health Promotion Association, and set up geriatric medicine majors, geriatric rehabilitation majors and other related disciplines in medical colleges in echelons to cultivate applied talents and reserve research talents. Increase the investment in geriatric medical and health resources, and include the provincial geriatric hospital standardization construction project in the development plan.
