The first is Europe. According to data released by the European Association of Automotive Manufacturers, sales of new cars (passenger cars) in 18 major European countries in 2021 decreased by 2% compared with 2020 to 10.6 million units. Among them, Germany fell sharply by 10%, and the United Kingdom achieved 1% growth. Overall, the main reason for the decline in new car sales in Europe is the shortage of semiconductors.

Then there's Japan. Japan's new vehicle sales (including light vehicles) in 2021 were 4.44 million units, down 3% year-on-year.

In contrast, the automotive markets in China and the United States have achieved positive growth.

According to data released by the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), new car sales in the United States in 2021 will be 14.93 million units, an increase of 3% over 2020. In 2022, new vehicle sales in the U.S. are expected to increase 3 percent from 2021 to 15.4 million units.

Finally, China. China's auto market turned positive for the first time in four years – 4% to 26.27 million units. The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers predicts that new car sales in China will grow by 5% in 2022 to 27.5 million units.
