President of the Lebanese Olympic Committee: The Beijing Winter Olympics will bring hope and joy to the world

Beirut, 19 Jan (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Olympic Committee President Boutros Girhe said on 19 January that Lebanese athletes are eagerly looking forward to participating in the competition in China, and the Lebanese side opposes any attempt to politicize sports and wishes the Beijing Winter Olympics a complete success.

This was a statement made by Jalhe during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon Qian Minjian on the same day. The two sides exchanged views on the progress of preparations for the Beijing Winter Olympics, epidemic prevention and control arrangements, and the preparation of athletes for the Winter Olympics in Li.

Jalhe highly appreciated China's great efforts to host the Winter Olympics and positively evaluated the epidemic prevention and control measures of the Beijing Winter Olympics. He stressed that the Olympic spirit is the common spiritual wealth of all mankind, and the Winter Olympics is the highest level of grand event that ice and snow athletes around the world aspire to. In the context of the epidemic, the Beijing Winter Olympics will bring hope and joy to people all over the world.

Qian Minjian said: Successfully running the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympic Winter Games is a solemn commitment made by China to the international community. In less than 20 days, the Beijing Winter Olympics will soon kick off, and all the preparations are basically ready and have entered the sprint stage. China will be a good host, implement scientific and refined prevention and control measures, ensure the health and safety of all personnel participating in the Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, and wholeheartedly dedicate a wonderful, extraordinary and outstanding Olympic event to all countries in the world, including Lebanon, and inject more unity, confidence and strength into the world. I wish the Lebanese athletes a good result in the Beijing Winter Olympics.

It is reported that lebanon has 3 skiers will participate in the Beijing Winter Olympics, 19-year-old Eli Taoke will participate in cross-country skiing, both 21-year-old male player Cesar Anouk and female player Mano Orvis will participate in alpine skiing.
