A pioneering Porsche: it will quickly lead the way when the uniquely designed Taycan pulls out of the pit lane and onto the track of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The porsche brand's first all-electric sports car will be the new safety car for this innovative formula-only series. The car will debut on 28 and 29 January at the new season opener in Diriyah, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Not only taking into account its functionality as an electric equation safety car, the Taycan Turbo S's impressive body design also includes the livery of all 11 participating teams and the colors of the FIA and Formula E, symbolizing the passion of every member involved in the race and the common road to the future of pure electric racing. At the same time, it intuitively expresses social values such as inclusion and community. The number 22 is an affirmation of the performance of the 22 contestants this season.

Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Porsche Motorsports, said: "We are very proud that Formula E has entrusted this task to Porsche, as it is particularly important for the safety of drivers. By using the Taycan Turbo S as an official safety car, we have made an important contribution to track safety, while also underscoring the importance of Formula E for Porsche motorsport. The unique design of the body reflects our passion for the future of this innovative event success. While teams are rivals on the track with each other, together we are spreading the word about the race to the world. More importantly, we also hope that this will appeal to young audiences who have not yet become racing enthusiasts. ”
"Formula E is delighted that the Porsche Taycan Turbo S will be available as a championship safety car from season eight. The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is the pinnacle of high-performance electrified vehicles that will illuminate Formula E's urban circuits around the world. In designing the safety car, Porsche recreated the vital track safety features as a powerful symbol of its passion for an electrified future and the great unity of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship players. Jamie Reigle, CEO of Formula E, said.
Thanks to its outstanding drivability, safety and output of up to 560 kW (761 PS), the ultra-high performance Taycan Turbo S is ideal for the current Formula E championship as a safety car, which will compete in the heart of the world's iconic cities including London, Mexico City, New York, Berlin, Monaco and Seoul. With the start control function, the flagship model of the Taycan series can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 2.8s and reach a maximum speed of 260km/h.
Converting the Porsche Taycan Turbo S into a safety car requires the addition of roll cages and racing barrel seats with six-point harnesses, as well as wiring harnesses for safety car lighting and the Magneti Marelli recorder system. Pop lights are integrated into the bumper.
Portuguese driver Bruno Correia, who has long been the driver of the Formula E safety car, also has a new cockpit equipped with a fire extinguisher and a high-tech communication system. As a result, the safety car meets all the requirements for service in the highly competitive event of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship.
