In 1927, John Livingston Lowes published The Road to Xanadu: A Study in the Ways of the Imagination, an erudite, detective-flavored, hypertext book.
In 1965, Ted Nelson named his hypertext concept, Based on Coolidge's poem Project Xanadu, because he believed that Xenadu was "a magical place where memories can never be forgotten."
The project is located in Jiangyin Qishan Forest Park, with Huashan Mountain in the southwest and Qishan Mountain in the northeast, facing the lake in the south. The design of Irizanadu fully respects the harmonious coexistence of man and nature, which is not physical but more spiritual.
Landscapes have been integrated into the character of Chinese. Perhaps, when the world is over, we will still have to return to the mountain. The lake view in front of the entrance to the mountain is unpredictable in all seasons, and the way the building opens the window gives up all the obstruction as much as possible, and extends part of the eaves, so that the pillars form an inward retreat, and the view from the interior to the outside is more open.
When we say "the unity of heaven and man", we are actually immersed in the mountains and rivers, feeling the spirit of heaven and earth, and the mountains often become the refuge of our spirit. In ancient times, when the scholar achieved success and retired, it was hidden in the mountains and forests, and modern people always thought that retreat was a symbol of frustration, in fact, this was the highest pursuit of the scholar - in the coexistence with nature, to find the highest freedom.
Chinese cultural architecture, in addition to traditional wooden structure architecture, green brick is the most typical element. The designer found 200,000 old green bricks, the mottled traces were rearranged, and new walls and shapes were piled up, circling the corridor space, telling a different story to each visitor, some people said that she was a spiritual wall; some said that she was a historical memory...
The first moment you enter the building, you are enveloped by a huge steel ring. If architecture needs a soul, then this large ring is the soul of this building, which is not expressed on the outside, but intrudes into people's hearts at the first moment of entry. The steel ring, with only two fulcrums, is subtly reclined against a beam, close to the ground, as if sinking deep into the ground. The staircase does not have a handrail, the experience of entry is precipitous, it is necessary to stop and stay, pay attention to whether your behavior can ensure the safety of walking, this is a space with vigilance.
In order to highlight the architectural frame, the space is more continuous, and the beam and column relationship is separated from the indoor ceiling and wall in terms of material and shape. Processed into an ultra-thin internal receding structure, looking up, you can strongly feel the logical relationship between the original building and the inner building - the traces of the combination of new and old buildings, the past and the present at the same time.
