Recently, under the command of the Hubei Provincial Fugitive Pursuit Office and the Wuhan Municipal Fugitive Pursuit Office, and through the continuous efforts of the discipline inspection and supervision, procuratorate, and public security organs of Wuchang District, Zhou Gang, a suspect who had absconded for 21 years, was arrested and brought to justice in Chengdu, Sichuan Province.

Zhou Gang, male, born in March 1968, was formerly the director of the Hongshan Road Branch of the Bank of China in Wuhan. Between 1997 and 2000, Zhou Gang used his position to facilitate the embezzlement of huge amounts of public funds. In February 2001, Zhou Gang absconded. On March 29, 2002, the Wuchang District People's Procuratorate opened a case against him on suspicion of embezzlement. In 2018, the work of pursuing fugitives and recovering stolen goods in this case was entrusted to the Supervision Committee of the Discipline Inspection Commission of Wuchang District and the Wuchang District Public Security Sub-bureau.

Zhou Gang is the first fugitive criminal suspect in Wuhan to be arrested in 2022, which is an important achievement of the Supervision Organs' performance of their duties of pursuing fugitives and recovering stolen goods in accordance with the law, and his arrest after 21 years of flight once again shows that no matter where and how long corrupt elements have fled, they will eventually be arrested and punished by law. The Wuhan Municipal Fugitive Pursuit Office is telling the fugitives to have a clear understanding of the situation, give up the psychology of luck, voluntarily surrender themselves, and strive for leniency.
