Xinjiang vigorously develops ice and snow sports - changing "cold resources" into "hot advantages"

Winter is in full swing, but Xinjiang's ice and snow entertainment projects are injecting a boom into the cold winter. The "cold resources" of the ice and snow in the north and south of the Tianshan Mountains are becoming a "hot advantage" to attract tourists.

As one of the regions with the richest ice and snow natural resources in China, Xinjiang has seized the opportunity of the Beijing Winter Olympics and The Winter Paralympic Games, relying on its rich ice and snow resources, launched a series of winter tourism products and activities to attract tourists to Xinjiang to play in the snow.

Ice and snow resources "burned"

The "China Ice and Snow Tourism Development Report 2022" released a few days ago shows that under the normalization of epidemic prevention and control, China's ice and snow tourism has reconstructed a new spatial pattern of "three legs standing, two belts rising, and full blooming". Among them, "three feet" refers to the three regions of Northeast China, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Xinjiang.

"This stems from Xinjiang's unique ice and snow resources." Li Jianhong, president of the Xinjiang Winter Sports Association, pointed out that ski enthusiasts like to come to Xinjiang, which stems from the three keywords of "powder, warmth and length": that is, powder snow, sunshine and ultra-long snow period.

At present, there are 72 ski resorts in Xinjiang, forming a new pattern of ice and snow tourism industry development based on the two ice and snow tourism belts of the Altai Mountains and tianshan mountains, Urumqi Nanshan, Altay City, Fuyun County, Yining City, Aksu-Wensu, SailimHu-Hot Spring, Karamay-Dushanzi and other ski resort gathering areas.

The Altai Mountains Ice and Snow Tourism Belt, which is mainly based in the Altay region, is located in the northernmost part of Xinjiang, and the "powder snow" that spreads over the mountains stretches for hundreds of kilometers, and there are more than 10 ski resorts such as Cocoto Sea International Ski Resort, General Mountain International Ski Resort, Hemujik Principe International Ski Resort, and Silk Road International Resort.

From January 15 to February 15, more than 110 ice and snow activities will be held in the Altay region, including the Winter Fishing Festival of Urungu Lake in Fuhai County, the Rime Festival in Burjin County, the "Primitive Year" in Hemu, the first Altay Ski Festival, and the "Jilin-Xinjiang" Ice and Snow Sports Youth Friendship Tournament.

Skiing on horse-skin skis is a form of skiing unique to the Altay region. The local government has "moved" the ancient and traditional horse skin snowboard making techniques into the major ski resorts, allowing tourists to participate in the production, adding a cultural flavor to the sport of skiing.

The Tianshan Ice and Snow Tourism Belt, which is mainly composed of Urumqi City, Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Karamay City, Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture and Bortala Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, has captured the hearts of many tourists with the characteristics of "hot spring + tourism".

Ice and snow sports "Hi" up

On the morning of January 16, the first Altay Ski Festival opened at the General Mountain International Ski Resort in Altay City. Primary and secondary school students' performances such as skiing, snowmobiling, and heli-skiing made the audience feast their eyes.

At the opening ceremony, the skiing action of 200 primary and secondary school students attracted the shouts of the audience. Since 2018, altay has incorporated skiing into the physical education of primary and secondary school students, becoming the first city in the country to offer ski sports classes. Up to now, Altay has created 33 national ice and snow characteristic schools, 20 autonomous region snow traditional project schools, and 22 autonomous region ice traditional project schools, making "ice and snow sports from dolls" into reality.

Relying on good ice and snow resources, Xinjiang has developed more mass ice and snow projects with high interest and low participation threshold, which has led more people to participate in ice and snow sports.

"As the Beijing Winter Olympics approach, the enthusiasm of snow friends is getting higher and higher. Not only on weekends, but also on weekdays, ski slopes are popular. Xue Wenjun, deputy general manager of Xinjiang Silk Road International Resort, said that there are now about 2,000 tourists a day from Monday to Friday, and up to 4,000 people on weekends. Among them, the proportion of tourists outside Xinjiang is increasing, and Shanghai, Guangdong and Gansu are the top three source areas.

Snow tug-of-war, snow wrestling, snow ring relay, snowmobiling and other ice and snow sports for all ages have blossomed everywhere in Xinjiang, attracting more people to feel the fun brought by ice and snow sports.

Ice and snow tourism "hot"

Driven by the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympic Winter Games, ice and snow tourism in Xinjiang this winter continues to heat up.

Wonderful song and dance performances, different forms of ice sculptures and snow sculptures, fun and endless amusement projects... On January 8, the first "Ice City" cultural tourism festival in Beitun City, the 10th Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps was opened.

In this cultural tourism festival, Beitun City carefully built an ice and snow happy valley with a total area of 64,000 square meters, set up seven major sections such as "City of 100 Lakes , Sunflower Blossoms", "New Era Xinjiang", "Red Ten Divisions", "New Year", "Happy Valley", "Ice Entertainment Area" and "Food Court", and held ice dragon boat competitions, lantern exhibitions, and ice and snow photography competition tourism activities to show the charm of ice and snow culture.

Horse racing, wrestling, girl chasing... A few days ago, at the first winter Naadam Conference held in the Sailim Lake Scenic Area, traditional competitive competitions, wonderful intangible cultural heritage performances, folk performances, and ice and snow entertainment projects such as go-karts and snowmobiles made the ice and snow full of festive atmosphere.

According to the person in charge of the management committee of the Sailim Lake Scenic Area, the scenic spot takes "blue ice" and other ice and snow wonders as the main brand, and develops more than 70 kinds of winter tourism projects on the basis of introducing ski resorts, and rich winter tourism products, so that tourists can stay and play well.

"At present, Xinjiang is building a world-class ice and snow industry, working with Jilin Province to play the ice and snow tourism card, and launching winter tourism products such as winter fishing, hot springs, snow jumping, and leisure vacations, so that more tourists can have fun, and more farmers and herdsmen will be encouraged to pack up." Hou Hanmin, secretary of the party group and deputy director of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, said.
