Webmaster's House (ChinaZ.com) Jan. 29 News: According to GalaxyClub, Samsung has begun to simplify the way its software system is updated. To date, Samsung has created country-specific updates that can be identified by country-specific codes (CSCs). However, GalaxyClub claims that Samsung has already begun to develop a single European firmware "EUX" for the likes of the Galaxy Z Flip3, Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy A52 4G.
Previously, Samsung would develop different firmware updates for each country. Now, these smartphones should receive the same firmware throughout Europe, regardless of which EU member state people buy them in. Samsung's initial tests are reportedly going well as GalaxyClub claims Samsung wants to coordinate its EUX development branch in Europe. In theory, the change will apply to the Galaxy A, Galaxy M, and Galaxy S series, including the upcoming Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra.
However, the change in the way development is done should not only benefit Samsung. Since Samsung will be developing fewer versions of the same firmware, it should allow companies to roll out major OS updates in a more timely manner. In addition, adopting a unified CSC should enable more people to test beta versions of the One UI.
Currently, Samsung's One UI 4 upgrade plans are deep into 2022. Samsung was one of the first Android OEMs to start upgrading their devices to Android 12, and it also promised to offer three OS updates, in line with Google and OnePlus phones.
