To commemorate the 1,000th anniversary of Wang Anshi's birth (December 18, 2021), I recently published three long articles on the glacier about Wang Anshi and his transformation.
In fact, there are two more articles in my plan, one is how the evaluation of Wang Anshi over the past thousand years has undergone a great turning point in a V-shape; and the other is how the original good political culture and scholar culture of the Song Dynasty were gradually corrupted by the fierce disputes around the change of law. Both are in the process of writing.
Not long ago, people in the publishing industry read these articles and discussed with me the issue of publishing a monograph, and of course I was very much looking forward to it. Therefore, I need to further expand the existing material to make it more detailed, full-bodied and reliable.
To this end, I need to study those first-hand materials more directly and do a more detailed review of the relevant historical facts. My main ideas and arguments have been presented in these articles, but the articles are articles and the monographs are monographs. To complete a book with a certain quality assurance, it is necessary to do a lot of patient and meticulous material research work.
Even if this thing does not work out in the end, I hope that through a period of hard work, I can do a good job of studying this major issue in Chinese history, at least to gain something for myself.

However, some translations seem to be inconsistent with the old translation or common translation, and they are somewhat separated from the reading. For example, translating the Amazons as Amadzuns, is pure pit daddy. At present, two-thirds of the book has been read, and it is read in the exchange of paper books and WeChat reading. So I'm not going to change to another book.
Herodotus can be described as a great traveler in the BC era, Europe, Africa and West Asia traveled a lot of places, there are researchers, his footprints, east and west, north and south span each reached 2700 kilometers, which is really amazing. Everywhere he went, he went to the local temple, met the priests and the intellectuals, and learned about its history. Because of the language barrier, he would learn about these things through translation. Therefore, what he saw and heard was mostly true, even if it seemed absurd. There are also some legends, but legends also have high cultural research value.
The first volume of this book is a background introduction to the magnificent Greek-Persian War, but it also details the human geography of ancient Egypt, the ancient Mediterranean and ancient Persia, although some of the situations are common knowledge today, but because of the different ethnic groups and cultural etiquette at that time, it is also particularly interesting. The book is a historical book about a 16th-century miller who was put to death by an inquisition court for religious heresy. Therefore, it is even more impossible to miss.
From a "historical point of view", such a small person is not commensurate with the Inquisition. Only great men like Galileo and Bruno are worthy of confronting the divine tragic fate. It's easy to forget that the victims of the Inquisition are more of "unworthy" little people. History does not require a great deal of lies to construct, a few facts are enough.

A pamphlet, given to me by a teacher during the Spring Festival last year, when we all thought we could go home for the Chinese New Year this time next year. This little blue book pressed against the bedside bookshelf, casually opened to see a very appropriate passage:
"In the coronavirus era, we need to know what kind of hope is reasonable. Because the hope will be better, it doesn't necessarily coincide with the right way of hoping. Expecting the impossible, or just the very unlikely, can cause us to face disappointment again and again. Such a view is not "realized" by the author Giordano now, but written as early as the beginning of the outbreak in Italy in early 2020.
