Eat New Year's dinner with tears in your eyes

【Original】Author Rolaid /Former Cadet of the 19th Squadron of the Lu Yuan

Today is the Chinese New Year's Eve. The whole country celebrates and the family is reunited.

It's also my birthday. I'm 65 years old this year.

The table is full of delicious food. There are cantaloupe, a specialty of Xinjiang, mutton from Inner Mongolia, yak beef from the Tibetan plateau, roast chicken from Daokou sent by comrade-in-arms Wu Haoxian, lotus root sent by comrades-in-arms from Honghu Lake, fish balls from Guizhou in his hometown, and chibi river carp. The years are quiet and enjoy life.

At this happy moment, for the sake of the ancestors and parents who died, for the comrades-in-arms and brothers who sacrificed in southern Xinjiang, I first poured fine wine and toasted the delicacies, and I knelt down to salute: My ancestors, my deceased parents, my brothers who were buried in southern Xinjiang 43 years ago in the war, today's New Year: I salute you first! Where are the parents without ancestors? Where am I without my parents? Without the veterans and militia on the front line sacrificing their lives in the moment of life and death, where would I have gone to school, worked, and started a family? Let's celebrate the New Year together! I couldn't help but burst into tears.

In my memory, I don't have any impression of my grandparents. But from my father's teachings about me, I can feel the traditional virtues of my ancestors.

When I returned home from home in 1979 after the end of the self-defense counterattack, my father first took me up the hill, told me which grave was his grandparents and which was his adoptive parents, and put a stone in each grave as a mark. Because my father did not go to school and was illiterate, he told me that I could not forget these ancestors and erected a monument for them.

The second thing was to take me to see his savior.

My father lost his father and mother at the age of 5, lonely and miserable, lying in the corner of the door because of raw acne, breathing heavily. The neighbor Grandma Du gave him a bowl of noodle soup, and his father miraculously survived.

Every year I come home, I have two gifts, one for my parents and one for Grandma Du.

The examples of parents' gratitude are endless, and the road is endless...

My father also told me a story, that when he was lying in the corner of the door and dying of illness, a feng shui gentleman passed by this place and said to the people around him, don't look at him to die, he will not die, and if a well-wisher saves him, he will get good fortune. He is a noble figure, a wife, two sons and three daughters, one son may be a county order, or a local celebrity. So my father's name was Shi Gui. Two of my brothers and three sisters were sure to be spoken of. This story was told to my father by Grandma Du, who saved my father.

Although I am not a county order or a showman, I also have an official and a half-job, writing articles and writing articles with my hands, exporting sentences.

My father's diligence and wisdom were beyond imagination. He dared to hike to Honghu Xiantao to harvest peas, make fans, and take on the burden of raising children in all directions. Once, my father did not eat rice all day, did not drink water, was thirsty, and was robbed by four bandits. Fortunately, I met a kind woman who hoeed grass and gave her a bowl of water to drink. Later, my father took a few pounds of pea fans to thank the hoe woman who helped the bowl of water.

Although his father could not read a word, he was proficient in carpentry, masonry and smith work, and was a local "three craftsmen" expert. The surrounding villages had this need, and the first was to ask my father to help.

My mother lost her parents at the age of 3 and was industrious and kind. There were only three dishes at home, and I had to go to someone else's house to borrow two dishes to go home and entertain guests. There was a beggar at the door, and the mother herself was reluctant to eat, so she gave the beggar a bowl first.

……

On February 28, 1979, the Veteran Guangxi Militia who accompanied our squad to ensure the supply of ammunition, when the enemy shells fell on me, he immediately pushed me down and pressed on me, he died gloriously, I still do not know the name of this hero.

I salute, I cry;

I had a glass of wine, I had a tear on my face...
