In addition to gout, there is a common type of arthritis in the clinic, that is, rheumatoid arthritis.
Many people mistakenly believe that since the same inflammation will cause joint pain, gout is also a rheumatic disease, then the treatment method is naturally the same. But this is not the case, and there is still a clear difference between gout and rheumatism.
So the question is, what is the difference between gout and rheumatism?
1. Pathogenesis: rheumatoid arthritis is a common acute and chronic inflammation of connective tissue, which is one of the main manifestations of rheumatic fever.
However, this disease is not generally related to cold irritation and wind blowing as everyone understands, but is caused by pathogen infection, which is type B hemolytic streptococcus, but cold, humid and other factors will induce the disease.

2. The site of onset: the clinical symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis are joints, muscle wandering soreness, redness and pain, and the most common site of onset in the clinic is the large joints of the lower limbs, such as knee joints, ankle joints, etc.
And gout is not the same, because urate crystals like low temperature, so it is mostly stacked on the small joints with weak skin coverage, in mainland clinical practice, the vast majority of acute gout patients for the first time, are appearing on the big toe joint, its performance is difficult to endure the joint redness, swelling, hot pain, pain can last for several hours or days, and then gradually alleviated;
3. Harm: Rheumatoid arthritis during the onset of the disease, patients will have joint pain, muscle soreness, fever, chorea and other symptoms.

4. Treatment: The treatment of rheumatoid arthritis is divided into two parts, the first is anti-rheumatic treatment, such as salicylate inhibitors and adrenocortic hormones, which are common drugs.

However, the treatment of gout is completely different, the treatment of gout is mainly for the acute onset of pain, inflammatory response control, such as colchicine, antipyretic analgesia drugs, etc., are commonly used in clinical types.
All in all, the symptoms of gout in the early stage are indeed similar to rheumatism and rheumatoid diseases, and gout also belongs to the category of metabolic rheumatoid diseases, but the two cannot be confused.
