With the successful holding of the Beijing Winter Olympics, the mascot ice pier exploded into flames, and now it is a situation of "one pier is difficult to find". However, Lin Kaikai, a deaf-mute cartoonist at Jinan Expo Animation, imitated and made four cute ice piers by himself. "It's so cute," Mr. Lin told reporters. "I enjoy making ice piers."
However, this silent mantricist is not from a science class, but a halfway home. He has also won the Jinan Self-Improvement Model and the Jinan Top Ten Role Models "Public Welfare Responsibility Model". Nowadays, the story hidden behind Lin Kaikai is gradually unfolding to us...
Ice piers on the table
"I really like the ice piers and I'm excited about making them." Lin Kaikai will smile when talking about making models, "Especially its ice crystal shell has five ribbons, which are not only integrated into the five Olympic rings, but also very beautiful." Even in the case of only words, the fifty-three-year-old deaf-mute clay sculptor was very cheerful and enthusiastic.
The first time I saw Lin Kaikai, he was gluing a brown plastic head in his studio. Although the studio was full of people, his eyes always firmly focused on a work. I saw him holding a bamboo chopstick in his hand, carefully tapping on a shiny clay sculpture. "This is to shape the shell of the ice pier, and I experimented with old clay sculptures in advance." Lin Kaikai introduced, "Using mixed glue to imitate the shell of ice crystals is an attempt. Next to the clay sculpture, there are also two bottles of glue and a small electronic scale, "I need to use a 3:1 ratio, mix the two kinds of glue, a little more or less may lead to a bad effect." In order to make the shape of the ice pier perfect, Lin Kaikai has been paying attention to this experimental product, but he could not see the effect until the next day.
On the shelf next to the desk, four cute ice piers are smiling and waving forward. Although it is still a shell of ice and snow, it looks light, its eyes are bright, and the black and white panda shows a cute smile on its face. Whether it is form or color, Lin Kaikai has perfectly presented it. "I made it from the standard version of the ice pier, and the material is made of hard resin, so I am not afraid of breaking it." Lin Kaikai smiled every time he looked at the ice pier, "The eyes of the ice pier are pasted up, and the toy material is used, which is both flexible and bright, better than the effect of the painting." ”
"These four ice piers need to go through five steps of digital sculpture, 3D printing, polishing, coloring, and gluing," Lin Kaikai told reporters, "Although he is good at kneading clay sculptures, it takes several months to dry with clay sculptures, which takes too long, so he chose to use ZB software to make digital sculptures to imitate ice piers." "From the beginning of the production to the initial completion of the present, Lin Kaikai shared the time for three and a half days." The well-made ice piers have no commercial use," Lin Kaikai told reporters, "and I will not give them to others." ”
Silent shaper
Lin Kaikai was born in 1968 to a nurse at a provincial hospital. During the neonatal period, Lin Kaikai suffered from umbilitis and peritonitis, which then caused sepsis. In order to save his life, the hospital had to use antibiotics, but due to the backward medical conditions at that time, most of the antibiotics were ototoxic, which also led to Lin Kaikai's loss of hearing shortly after birth.
Lin Kaikai's mother told reporters, "We didn't know he couldn't hear until we were one year old. Because before that, he would learn to pick up the watch and listen to the sound of the hands moving," At this point, she pointed to her ear, and her face showed a distressed expression, "Later, his father played the flute at home, and Lin Kaikai did not react at all, until this time, we realized that there may be a problem with our son's ear." Subsequently, Lin Kaikai's parents took him to the hospital for treatment. Ultimately, the doctors gave the conclusion that it was neurotic tinnitus. Due to the irreversible damage to the ear nerves, Lin Kaikai lost his hearing forever.
Although in theory, neurotic tinnitus cannot be cured, Lin Kaikai's parents have not given up, and they have taken their children to the People's Liberation Army Hospital and other places for various treatments. When the thin Han needle plunged into the flesh, Lin Kai opened and cried. But the treatment is far more than that, and some doctors even conducted electrotherapy on Lin Kaikai. At a young age, he was convulsed by electricity and lay on the bed almost fainting. "In the two years of healing, he really suffered the guilt." Lin Kaikai's mother had tears in her eyes, "After two years, we gave up the treatment of our children. ”
"When it was more than seven years old, there was no language school in Jinan, and before that, Lin Kaikai could not speak." Mama Lin told reporters, "It wasn't until he was 9 years old that we sent him to the only special education school in Jinan. Here, although Lin Kaikai learned sign language and understood the text, the listening problem still affected him. Once, the parents of classmate Yang Fang (pseudonym) asked the class teacher to inform their children to go to the Tianqiao District after school, but the teacher mistakenly conveyed the information to Lin Kaikai. After school, he took the bus alone to the overpass area and did not return home until dark. In this case, it is too dangerous for a child who cannot hear and cannot speak. Fortunately, however, Lin Kaikai's uncle's colleague met him on the road and brought him back.
Embark on an artistic career
In his mother's eyes, Lin Kaikai has a talent for art since he was a child, although he can't speak, he will pick up chalk to draw airplanes, cars and other means of transportation on the cement floor of his home. In special education schools, Lin Kaikai chose fine arts as his specialty. "We just thought he had a talent for art, so we chose to cultivate him in this area." Subsequently, Lin Kaikai studied in a special education school for 11 years. He studied algebra, Chinese, and art, and because of his hard work, his grades are always among the best.
Lin Kaikai studied with three art teachers. The first was his art enlightenment teacher Meng Zhen (pseudonym), Lin Kaikai told reporters, "I mainly learn the basics of art with him." Until the age of 16, the old folk artist personally told Mama Lin that "I can no longer guide him." Lin Kaikai changed his second teacher, Professor Zhou Chengbiao of the Shandong Academy of Arts and Crafts, and studied sculpture with him for 10 years. During this period, 21-year-old Lin Kaikai graduated from a special education school. Subsequently, he entered Jinan First Machine Tool Group Co., Ltd. to work as an advertising artist. After the reform of the enterprise system, most of the factory area was moved to Zhangqiu, and Lin Kaikai chose to stay in the kitchen of the old factory area to help cook for personal reasons. But that didn't stop him from pursuing fine art. At the age of 25, Lin Kaikai worked part-time as a sculpture and art consultant at the Jinan Railway Tianlong Group Art Production Center.
At the age of 47, due to the collapse of Jinan First Machine Tool Group Co., Ltd., Lin Kaikai was unemployed. After being contacted by the Jinan Disabled Persons' Federation, Lin Kaikai entered the Shandong Expo Animation to engage in comic plastic work. Although Lin Kaikai's knowledge in this area is blank, he did not flinch, but chose to learn pottery with his third pottery teacher, Wang Xuefang. This also laid the foundation for his current comic plastic work. Later, he also created and completed the "Qilu Sage Series Of Comic Sculpture Works", and gradually won the recognition of society and the market.
In fact, Lin Kaikai's artistic career is not only related to the three teachers, but also related to his love of self-study. As early as the early 1990s, he owned his first computer with the help of his parents, and learned all the basic applications of computers, as well as 3D animation design, and from 2002 to 2006, he also produced MAYA 3D animation for Li Yang Film and Television Production Co., Ltd.
A fruitful artistic life
Now, Lin Kaikai is already the main person in charge of the "Lychee Blossom" Lin Kaiman Plastic Studio. He undertook the teaching task of "Public Welfare Training Activity for the Employment of the Disabled". While creating art, he also teaches deaf and mute people to make clay sculptures.
In 2019, Lin Kaikai was awarded the honorary title of "Public Welfare Responsibility Model" of the Fourth Jinan Top Ten Role Models.
Not only that, Lin Kaikai's sculpture "Kong Ming" also won the second prize in the first Shandong Provincial Creative Design Competition for the Disabled in 2019 "Lychee Blossom"; in November of the same year, the clay sculpture "Happy One Happy" created by him was collected by Shandong Academy of Arts and Crafts. In 2020, Lin Kaikai's sculpture work - "New Era of Heart Language" won the third prize in the professional group of the competition in the "Learning to Strengthen the Country" Shandong Learning Platform Cultural and Creative Product Design Competition. In the same year, his fine art works "Colorful Galaxy" and "Prudent Thinking and Doing" won the first prize and the third prize respectively in the East China Regional Cultural and Creative Competition for the Disabled.
In fact, as early as 2004, Lin Kaikai was already rated as "Jinan City Self-Improvement Model". The comic strips created by him personally have been adopted by the "Junior Science Pictorial" 6 times; he has created more than 2,000 illustrations for the "National Extracurricular Series for Primary School Students" published by Tomorrow Publishing House... During this time, Lin Kaikai also drew 30 medical science books for Director Wang of the Tuina Department of Shandong Provincial Hospital.
