Talking about ancient and modern times, digging deep into the history of Hebei that you don't know, hello everyone, I am "Qing Shi Jun", welcome to pay attention to the "Qing Shi Guan", every day to bring you fresh, interesting, dry goods full of historical stories.
Today, we are talking for you about the story of the Shang Dynasty ruins in Zhao Village, Baixiang County.
In September 2015, cultural relics workers from Baixiang County, Xingtai City, discovered a Shang Dynasty site in the north of Zhaocun Village in this county. After clean-up and excavation, 56 ash pits and 6 tombs were found, as well as 7 animal pits and an ash ditch, as well as some architectural sites.
Here, a number of specimens of pottery, stone tools, bone tools, stone knives, stone axes, arrows and other cultural relics have been unearthed. Geng Xiaoning, director of the local cultural protection institute, said that these specimens included pottery bristles, clay pots, pottery pots, pottery pots, pottery urns, etc., which were commonly used in the diet. Among them, the pottery bristle is a pot used for cooking rice. There are more pottery excavated in the site, indicating that the population settlement was larger in that year, and the use rate of pottery was high. In addition, stone tools such as stone knives and stone axes are used in stone tools; bone tools include bone cones, bone rods, arrows, and bones.
The 7 animal pits excavated this time are a highlight of the excavations, which are buried with whole wild boars and domestic pigs, dogs and sheep, etc. This centralized burial form and the bones excavated in the site speculate that this animal pit is related to the sacrifice ceremony at that time.
Dating back more than 3,500 years, such ancient villages show the living conditions and forms of sacrifice of the people at that time, and also show that the ancestors of the Shang Dynasty were already skilled in hunting and breeding animals to eat and sacrifice. The excavation of this Shang Dynasty site has certain reference value for studying the living conditions of the ancestors in central and southern Hebei.
In fact, it is not surprising to find such an ancient village in Baixiang County. The capital city of the early Shang Dynasty, "Xing", was in the area of today's Xingtai City, and many ancient human settlement sites had been found in Shijiazhuang, Xingtai and other places. For example, there are the famous Taixi ruins in Gaocheng District, and there are also Shang Dynasty ruins in Xinchengpu, Zhengding County. In addition, in recent years, 17 ancient tombs from the late Shang Dynasty have been found in the Zhoujiazhuang area of Luancheng District, and exquisite cultural relics including bronzes have been excavated. The Double Temple in Zhao County has Shang Dynasty ruins, and The Southern Changtun in Wei County also has Shang Dynasty ruins.
The center of Shang rule was in northern Henan, but there were also many Shang dynasty cities and settlements in central and southern Hebei, some of which were probably owned by the nobles of the time. This is also the reason why shang dynasty tombs and human settlement sites can always be found from time to time in central and southern Hebei. The discovery of this ancient village is a testament to the long history and rich cultural heritage of Baixiang County. This county is the base of the Guangwu Emperor Liu Xiu, and the hometown of the Qing Dynasty university Shi Wei Yijie, the discovery of this ancient village has added a touch of cultural brightness to this ancient county, and also explains the profound historical and cultural heritage of Baixiang County.
