When Guo Kejun was a child, he lived on the shore of Dongting Lake, with mountains behind his home, water in front, rice paddies, and small bridges flowing water. On weekdays, you can go down to the river to catch turtles, catch fish, catch crabs. Natural scenery and childhood life in the countryside are the inspiration for Guo Kejun's paintings. Green mountains and green waters, ancient pines and bright moons, green bamboo mountains, insects and birds, these memory symbols that grow up with him have become the DNA of his works.

Guo Kejun's most commonly used materials are rice paper, acrylic and Chinese painting pigments. Most people think that rice paper must use Chinese painting pigments, but Guo Kejun feels that as long as it is paint, it can be tried, and even oil paints and toners are used, and finally found that propylene is more convenient and easy to modify. Perhaps related to personality, Guo Kejun likes to draw directly, and does not like the painting method with too many procedures like Tempera.
