Walking in the world, speaking vernacular| "I" speak for the national language and culture

Every language deserves to be guarded

Every culture deserves admiration

Dali Bai, ancient, unique and incomparably inclusive

Walking in the world, speaking vernacular| "I" speak for the national language and culture

They exalt all virtues

They create harmony and happiness

Their descendants are confident and humble

Inherit the wisdom of ancestors and speak for the national language and culture

Dong Qianyun, of Bai ethnicity, majored in Chinese Minority Language and Literature at minzu University of China.

Why did you run to Beijing to learn Mandarin? In Dali, I learned to use bai, and in Beijing, under the guidance of my teacher, I systematically learned bai.

From square bai to pinyin bai, from Dali bai to Nujiang bai to Jianchuan bai, vertical to horizontal, in this language I felt the spirit of the nation, felt the richness of local folklore, and the language wisdom of the ancestors.

Only when a nation continues to keep its language and writing from being annihilated in the torrent of the times can it always break through the waves. ——Dong Qianyun

Li Yinzhu, born in Beiluojiuyi Village, Taihe Subdistrict, Dali City, graduated from Dali No. 1 Middle School in high school, and is currently studying at minzu University of China, and is a first-year student at the Chinese Ethnic Minority Language and Literature College in the class of 2021.

When I was a science student in high school, my experience of the countryside and my understanding of folklore simply stayed in the practice of surrounding life. For example, as far as the Bai myths and legends are concerned, what they have known before only stays in the "Big Koshi and The Little Koshi", "The Big Black Dragon, the Little Yellow Dragon", and "Wangfu Yun", which my grandmother often said, in fact, the Bai people still have many literary and cultural treasures. The Central University for Nationalities is the cradle for cultivating outstanding talents of ethnic minorities and the model of ethnic unity, and it is also the most suitable school for ethnic minority students to learn about diverse cultures and exchange diverse folk customs.

Dali provides us with the context, and going to Beijing to study is like entering a language learning institution, allowing us to learn the language and culture of our own ethnic group or other ethnic groups more systematically, professionally and more targetedly. --Li Yinzhu
