The reason why I was able to lose weight in Buddhism was that I used a scientific killer this time: carb blockers. When I mentioned it last time, there were many readers who were very curious about it and wanted me to write it, so today is the time to be named for popular science!

Carbohydrate blocking, as the name suggests, is to block the body's absorption of carbohydrates in the digestive system.
In order to make it clear to everyone, you need to review the high school biology first and re-learn the concept of "carbohydrate".
Carbohydrates are composed of three elements: carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, and are called carbohydrates because they contain a two-to-one ratio of hydrogen to one, just like water.
The carbohydrates that the body can absorb generally include three types: monosaccharides, disaccharides, and polysaccharides.
Monosaccharides include glucose, galactose, fructose, commonly found in fruits, honey, monosaccharide molecules do not need to be digested can be directly absorbed by the body;
Disaccharides include sucrose (such as refined sugars such as white sugar, rock sugar, brown sugar and other refined sugars), lactose (in various dairy products), which can be hydrolyzed into monosaccharides by sucrase and lactase in the small intestine, and then absorbed;
The last polysaccharide, also known as complex carbohydrates, usually refers to starch, that is, the grains, rhizome vegetables, and legumes that we eat every day.
The digestion process of starch is slightly more complicated, first in the mouth by salivary amylase for initial hydrolysis, a small amount of starch will be broken down into sugar.
This is also why when we eat white rice or steamed buns, if we chew for a while, we will taste a faint sweetness.
It then passes through the stomach into the small intestine, and then is further decomposed and digested into glucose by amylase in the small intestine, and finally absorbed by the body.
Carb blockers are effective because they contain an ingredient called α-AI, a amylase inhibitor that inhibits amylase activity in the small intestine.
If carb blockers are taken before ingesting staple foods, then α-AI will come to the small intestine before food, inhibiting amylase activity. In this way, the starch that comes to the small intestine, without the help of amylase, cannot be decomposed into glucose, and it cannot be absorbed.

The α-AI in the current carb blocking products on the market is mainly extracted from white kidney beans.
But α-AI is not only found in white kidney beans, in fact, many high-starch plants in nature have fruits, such as barley, wheat, rye, sorghum, rice, millet, taro, peanuts, potatoes, sweet potatoes and various legumes.
And here's what's interesting: the higher the starch content of plant fruits, the higher the α - AI.
The more starch, the more α that inhibits its absorption - the more AI, somehow, I think of the martial arts drama "there must be an antidote within seven steps", and I can't help but sigh "This is the truth that all things in heaven and earth are mutually exclusive".
In fact, this is not accidental!
Because α-AI is the natural evolution of plants to prevent seeds from being digested and destroyed.
Imagine that in ancient nature, there were wild beasts looking for food everywhere, and the seeds of plants were basically eaten by hungry animals.
Some seeds, because they contain α-AI, thus avoiding the fate of being completely digested and absorbed, are excreted with the poop, fall into the soil, and then sprout and grow.
After generations of natural selection, species containing α-AI are left behind by natural selection. And those seeds that are completely digested, because they cannot reproduce, gradually disappear.
So you see, the α-AI in the carb blocker film is not a synthetic chemical, but a substance that has long existed in nature under natural evolution.
Since foods with high starch content have α-AI, it does not mean that we eat foods with a lot of starch and also consume the corresponding α-AI, so why worry about too much carb absorption?
This is because α-AI is essentially a protein that loses its heating activity once it has no effect.
Raw white kidney beans cannot be eaten because they contain toxic proteins, plant lectins (PH A), which can cause poisoning if not cooked thoroughly.
Therefore, this starch inhibitory enzyme α-AI, which is basically difficult for us to obtain by daily diet, and only by extracting and preserving the activity can it be effective in the human body.
So does it have an effect on weight loss?
In fact, carbohydrate blocking is not a new thing, foreign countries have been widely popular since the last century, on the academic website, you can also find a large number of scientific research papers on it.
Its effectiveness in weight loss has also been confirmed by the results of many clinical trials.
The results of a foreign randomized clinical trial of 247 participants and 11 groups of humans showed:
Compared to the placebo group, the trial group had a statistically significant reduction in body weight or fat ratio of at least 5%, with weight loss at 12 weeks being about two-thirds of the weight loss observed during the 6-month plateau period. From the overall analysis, it was inferred that the weight loss during the plateau period was about 2.5 kg.

However, carb blockers are not effective for all whoa eat and drink.
If you want to rely on it to eat cakes, ice cream, coke, milk tea and the like, it basically doesn't help.
Because the carbs in these foods are simple sugars and disaccharides, it does not need to be decomposed by amylase, and it can be directly absorbed.
Therefore, carbohydrate blockers are only effective for starch and these compound carbohydrates, which are mainly suitable for people with relatively large intake of staple foods.
In fact, compared with foreign countries, I think the carbohydrate blocker is more targeted for our domestic diet structure!
In the European diet, the content of staple foods is not high, and the culprit that makes them fat is actually the sugar in all kinds of sweets, and I have also complained that the Germans love sweets to the point of outrageous.
But we in China are not, I am in this article "Germans who are born without sweets, are their blood sugar okay?" It is mentioned that the reason for many fat and diabetes in China is mainly the proportion of carbohydrates in the diet structure is too large, to put it bluntly, that is, the staple food eats too much.
Statistics show that 60% of Chinese energy intake comes from carbohydrates, compared with only 50% in Americans.
To tell the truth, even if we know the benefits of a low-carbon water diet, the eating habits we develop from an early age are really the most difficult to change. From snacks to rice, steamed buns, noodles and the like, it is really difficult to adhere to the low-carbon water diet.
Even though I have been in Europe for so many years, I can still see hot dry noodles, buns and so on, and I can't resist it at all! The "fast food" eaten at noon is often a large bowl of dumplings or tomato egg noodles cooked in 5 minutes.
I'm not going to compete with myself now, I have to have low-carbon water every meal. The epidemic, accidents and wars in the past two years have made me feel that life is short, so let's maintain a certain balance between eating healthy and eating happily! If I want to eat a little more of a staple food, then come to a carb blocker tablet for emergency.
