Porsche has partnered with virtual experience company Holoride to bring a new VR tour to its Porsche Experience Centre (PEC) in Los Angeles. Participants will ride behind cayenne, and the vehicle will be synchronized with their VR headsets as they travel to provide a fully immersive experience.
Cayenne will drive around the Los Angeles PEC as back-seat passengers travel through virtual outer space in a game called "Cosmic Chase." As the vehicle moves, its driving data is directly translated into what it looks like in the game, providing first-class realism (and minimizing the risk of vertigo for passengers) by matching the passengers' feelings to what they see. In the game, players must work hard to protect their spaceships, shooting and dodging aliens and other obstacles approaching them.
Zabih Aria, Director of Strategy and Digital Business at Porsche Automotive North America, said: "Porsche stands for emotional and dynamic customer experiences, and the joint pilot with Holoride is a good preview of how these experiences can be transformed into a digital future".
In response, Nils Wollny, CEO and co-founder of Holoride, added: "We are working with Porsche Motors North America to give riders the thrill of driving at high speeds, combined with a highly immersive VR experience. We're excited to offer a new type of attraction for car and entertainment enthusiasts in the Los Angeles area that is a perfect example of how the Automotive Experience Center is transforming into an exciting venue for all to enjoy."
If the partnership succeeds in Los Angeles, Porsche and Holoride plan to extend the experience to other experience centers around the world.
