Xu Dongmei, founder of Close to Mother Tongue, said that according to the "Close to Mother Tongue Chinese Graded Reading Standards", the selection of books follows the three major concepts of children's sexuality, classicity and education, starting from the needs of children's physical and mental development, respecting the laws of children's language learning, emotional development and mental growth, fully considering the reading interests of children of different ages and different personalities, and selecting suitable reading content for them. The bibliography is based on classic children's books and excellent children's literature works at home and abroad, and at the same time selects classic modern and contemporary literary works suitable for children and excellent humanities works at home and abroad. Select works that have an impact on children's reading ability, thinking quality, emotional development and social integration, etc., to help children learn in reading, develop children's reading literacy and humanistic literacy, and promote children's spiritual growth.
Among them, 0-3 years old children, early reading to cognition, this stage has 80 picture books to choose from; 4-6 years old children, to take into account the child's rich and extensive reading interests, the proportion of literature and humanities encyclopedia at this stage is roughly 6:4, each age group 80 picture books. Grades 1-6, the proportion of humanities encyclopedia in each grade is between 20% and 25%, cultivating children's attention to the themes of human life and development in all aspects of human life and development, such as history, geography, economy, society, as well as the interest and spirit of scientific inquiry, in order to enhance humanities and scientific literacy.
