Some of Ferrero's products may be contaminated with Salmonella, Ferrero China: Assisting in the recall of the product in question

People's Daily health client reporter Xu Shiyu

On April 15, the official website of the General Administration of Customs announced that, according to the Notification of the World Health Organization's International Food Safety Network (infosan) and confirmed by the Belgian Embassy in China, the Italian chocolate producer Ferrero Group announced a global recall of some of its Kinda-related chocolate products produced at its Plant in Arlon, Belgium. The reason for the recall is that the above products may be contaminated with Salmonella.

Ferrero Chinese mainland official channels never imported or sold the Belgian products involved. However, some products may enter the Chinese market through cross-border e-commerce, sea amoy, entrepot trade, etc., and Ferrero China will assist in recalling the products involved. On April 15, a People's Daily health client reporter learned from Ferrero China.

Ferrero China Official Micro Announcement.

Ferrero China officials responded that the full line of Kenda products produced from China and imported into Chinese mainland (including in-transit and official channels on sale) are not related to the Belgian production plant involved, but if there are consumers who have purchased the products through other channels, they can contact the original purchase channel or call the Ferrero service hotline at 400-880-6266 during working hours monday to Friday to assist in the recall.

The quality assurance personnel of a food company in Shanghai revealed to the People's Daily health client reporter that chocolate and cocoa products need to be tested for the total number of colonies, coliform bacteria, mold, salmonella and other tests, and the detection limit standard for salmonella is not detectable. Microbial contamination routes include raw materials brought in, personnel bringing in, logistics, cross-contamination of the production environment, etc., on non-product contact surfaces, pathogenic bacteria such as Salmonella can be directly monitored to find possible sources of pollution, and the monitoring frequency is weekly, bi-weekly or monthly.

Zhi Jiehua, deputy chief physician of the Department of Gastroenterology of Yangzhou First People's Hospital, pointed out in a post on the Health Client of People's Daily that most salmonella does not contain toxicity or is very toxic, and only a very few species are pathogenic. For example: Salmonella cambilis, Salmonella enteritidis, etc. Hundreds of millions of people around the world are infected with these bacteria every year, and some patients die as a result. But most people don't get sick because of this, and the human immune system can repair itself.

"Ordinary people generally do not have particularly serious diseases after being infected with Salmonella, and at most they only pull their stomachs for one day, which is due to their strong immunity, which can quickly eliminate the bacteria and do not require special treatment." However, the elderly are different from children, and children who eat chocolate containing pathogens in this chocolate incident may be life-threatening because of this germ. Zhi Jiehua prompted.

The General Administration of Customs reminds that if chocolate products produced by The Ferrero Group's Kinder Surprise, Kinder Mini Eggs, Kinder Surprise Maxi and Kinder Schokbons produced at the Plant of Ferrero Group in Arlon, Belgium, are obtained by any means (including purchase and gifts through various channels), they should stop eating immediately and contact the original channel for returns or contact Ferrero Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.
