On December 18, 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the first oral gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptor antagonist, Riglik Tablets (ORGOVYX, Myovant Sciences, Inc.), for use in adult patients with advanced prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer is known as a male killer, the incidence of the disease has been climbing all year round, and there are data showing that the potential incidence of prostate cancer in mainland China is as high as 25% in people over 70 years old. 934 patients who met the admission criteria were randomized to receive the drug for 48 weeks in a 2:1 ratio. The results showed that the continuous castration (testosterone concentration <50ng/dL) in the treatment group of this product (n=622) to 29 days to 48 weeks was 96.7%, while the leuprolide microsphere group (n=308) was 88.8%. The Orgovyx treatment group already had 91% of patients who met the castration criteria on day 8 and were effective as an adjunct.
