During his roughly three-hour testimony, the Oscar-nominated star spoke in detail about Hurd's allegations of domestic abuse, his history with substance abuse and their relationships.

In the years leading up to publication, Hurd claimed that Depp had bruised her face after throwing her phone at her home in Los Angeles. Depp denied the allegation and was not charged with any crime.

In his testimony, Depp admitted that he and Hurd had an argument during their relationship, but said: "I myself have never reached the point of hitting Ms. Hurd in any way, and I have never hit any woman in my life."

He also described his parents' tumultuous relationship and the verbal and physical abuse he and his siblings suffered from their mother. He also claimed that his first experience of taking a controlled substance occurred when he was about 11 years old and that he would take his mother's prescription medication "to escape the chaotic nature of what we experience."

Depp claimed hurd's op-ed had cost him financially, including being removed from future "Pirates of the Caribbean" films after he led the series for 15 years.
