Legend of Gu Yu
According to legend, in ancient times, Cangjie made characters, this outstanding contribution touched the ghosts and gods of heaven and earth, and the heavens wanted to reward Teacher Cang, but he refused, saying: I just did some small work, or ask the heavens to reward the people with grain and abundance. So, God gave the world a rain of grain.
Therefore, there is a folk legend that "Cangjie wrote a book, and the day rained millet, and the ghost cried at night", and people also set this day as the Valley Rain Festival.
Valley rain three times
Each solar term has three representative phenology, the three seasons of Gu Yu are: one waits for Ping to start, the second is for the dove to whisk its feathers, and the third is for Dai Sheng to descend on Sang.
Because the rain in the valley rain increased significantly, the duckweed in the water began to grow, and because the duckweed could not pass the frost, so the first birth of the duckweed meant that the spring cold would not happen again, and the weather really began to warm up.

Second waiting for the dove to whisk its feathers: The dove began to comb its feathers, in fact, because it was the time to change feathers, but also to the season of courtship, so the dove will show its charm by combing feathers and chirping, in order to seek a good mate.
In fact, if according to the phenological performance, the song dove should refer to the cuckoo, the spotted dove and the cuckoo's call is very similar, so people will always confuse the two, the Ming Dynasty Zhang Dai in the "Night Sailing Ship • Four Spirits Department • Chi Wu" said "spotted dove is cuckoo", can be used as a reference.
Interestingly, the cuckoo's call is "cuckoo ~ cuckoo ~", which sounds like a reminder that people can start planting grain rice, so there is a saying of "cuckoo cuckoo, jiajiasa valley".
If the cuckoo does not whisk its feathers during the rainy season, it means that the country is not governed, which is not all superstition, if it comes to a specific season, there is no occurrence of what should happen, it means that the season of the year is not suitable for crop growth, as an agricultural civilization, it is very likely that there will be a bad harvest, so that it is inevitable that there will be discordant sounds.
Three Waiting Dai Sheng descended on the mulberry: Dai Sheng bird landed on the mulberry tree, which shows that the silkworm baby is going to give birth, this is a big thing, thousands of years ago our ancestors began to raise silkworms, there are Fuxi silkworms, the ancestors of the legend of silkworms, silk and cotton, hemp, is the main raw material for people's daily clothing.
Moreover, silk is also a very important trade product, which supported the great Silk Road and promoted the exchange of cultures between the East and the West, so China is also called a silk country by Westerners, which shows the importance of silkworms and silk.
If Dai Sheng had not descended to Sang, it also indicated that something bad would happen.
Gu Yu poetry
There are also many beautiful ancient poems in the rainy season of the valley, such as duckweed, when alone in a foreign land, Du Fu's sentence "Looking at each other for thousands of miles, the same is a duckweed" ("Brazil Yiting Guan Jiang Rises, Presenting Dou Makes The Second Song"), how much bitterness, Wang Bo's "Preface to the Tengwang Pavilion" also has: "Guan Shan is difficult to cross, who is sad to lose the road; Pingshui meets, all are guests of other towns", in short, duckweed in ancient poetry, it has a sad image of drifting and uncertain life.
The cuckoo is the cuckoo, also called the zigui in ancient times, there is a legend of the cuckoo weeping blood, Li Shangyin has the verse "Zhuang Sheng Xiao dream of the butterfly, Wangdi Chunxin to the cuckoo", Li Bai has "Yang Hua fell to the end of the zi rule when sending off, smelling the dragon marking the five streams", also contains a sad mood.
As for silkworms, Tao Yuanming has a poetry cloud: "Dogs bark in the deep alleys, chickens sing mulberry trees upside down", Li Shangyin is more: "Spring silkworms to the end of the dead silk, wax torch into gray tears began to dry", whether it was originally described love, or later extended to the meaning of gratitude, for thousands of years, this poem has touched countless Chinese people, is the real ancient famous sentence.
Finally, when it comes to Gu Yu, I also have to say that Gu Yu Tea, Tea Picking Before Qingming is Ming Qian Tea, Tea Picked Before Gu Yu is called Yu Qian Tea, which is the best time to pick tea in the year, Zheng Banqiao has a poem praising: "Just Qingming Lian Gu Rain, a cup of fragrant tea sits in between." ”
