On May 30, 2022, local time, in Sydney, Australia, friendly whales seemed to wave to a boat of ecstatic tourists who welcomed the mammals back at the start of the season. Photographer Jonas Liebschner captured this heart-warming image on a Whale View Sydney cruise ship outside the local harbor. For at least 40 minutes, the two friendly humpback whales frolicked and jumped just 30 feet from their audience.
