Nanning News of the South China Morning Post (reporter Zhang Ruofan) On June 17, the reporter learned from the Autonomous Region Center for Disease Control and Prevention that at present, the whole region has fully carried out dengue fever vector Aedes mosquito monitoring. Monitoring results from late April to May showed that more than 35% of surveillance sites were at the intermediate and high risk level.

According to reports, dengue virus has 4 serotypes, and people infected with one of the serotypes of the virus can have lifelong immunity to the virus. If infected with one type of virus followed by another type of case, it is easy to develop severe dengue fever.

In 2014, there were serious dengue outbreaks in Nanning, Wuzhou, Hezhou and other cities. This year, imported cases have emerged in the region, indicating the arduous task of preventing and controlling the epidemic of dengue fever. According to past experience, dengue fever is endemic in the first year, and efforts should be stepped up to prevent re-infection in the second year.

There is currently no specific treatment or vaccine for dengue fever, and the most effective preventive measure is to control the density of Aedes mosquitoes. There is a close statistical relationship between the density level of Aedes mosquitoes and the risk of disease transmission, and timely monitoring of Aedes mosquito density is an important part of epidemic research and control.

Since March this year, the Autonomous Region Center for Disease Control and Prevention has trained more than 200 technical backbones of the relevant staff of cities and counties in the region on dengue fever epidemic and Aedes mosquito monitoring technology, requiring cities and counties (cities, districts) to comprehensively carry out routine monitoring of dengue vector Aedes mosquitoes, monitor twice a month, report the collected monitoring data every week, find places with high density of Aedes mosquitoes, and timely carry out the work of removing breeding grounds, cleaning up the environment and preventing mosquitoes and mosquitoes. As of June 8, 12 municipalities have been able to carry out normal monitoring work.

Monitoring results from late April to May showed that more than 35% of the surveillance sites were at intermediate and high risk levels, indicating that the density of Aedes mosquitoes in the whole region was at a high level. In the coming months of rising temperatures, timely monitoring and control of Aedes mosquito density will be urgent.
