In Changsha alone, several businessmen said that the first pot of gold they made was to print and sell pirated copies of "Chinese Paintings." In the past ten years, the genuine "Chinese Painting" has been nowhere to be found, and the pirated version has been widely circulated. This book once tenaciously lived underground.

Fate is like the sky, high above, inescapable. But if people can forget the existence of fate, this world is beautiful. The so-called encounter with a good fate must have experienced too much suffering first; the so-called bad fate is a deep predicament. The place where the god of destiny hovers overhead all the time is not a promised land after all. Chinese have feared fate since ancient times, because the god of fate is too powerful, and people are often small and helpless.

I was in awe of heaven and earth, but I was a stubborn atheist and did not believe that the god of destiny was really high in the clouds. They are actually on the ground, breathing the same air, bathing in the same sunshine, and eating the same grains. Such so-called living gods and immortals, if they only control the life and death of the text, are not too unfortunate. Man cannot be resurrected from the dead, but words do not die. Time is enough to be awe-inspiring, and hope is always growing in the dark.

In 2012, "Chinese Painting" was republished. Re-reading this book, I still can't help but burst into tears. It was beyond my mental preparation. More than a decade later, I should have become diluted and calm. However, the people and things in the book often stir up the flames in my heart. The bowling alley in "Chinese Painting" must be manually scored, and now the electronic scoring of bowling balls is no longer fashionable, and golf has become the daily entertainment of the nobles. When mobile phones were luxury goods, luxury homes and famous cars are now common gifts that nobles receive privately. The beings creeping on the earth are becoming more and more convinced of their fate, and anger is already a very meaningless thing.

I admit that "Chinese Painting" is a book of loneliness and indignation, but also a book of sorrow. However, it is a deeply misunderstood book. The word "sadness" may be closer to the background of my work; this "sadness" also has a deeper background, that is, compassion for certain human losses. Because of compassion, so warm. "Chinese Painting" is not a gray and cold novel, the book exudes the warmth and brilliance of human nature everywhere. Of course, my novels are more revealing and critical of national nature. The mission of national criticism advocated by Mr. Lu Xun's generation of writers has not been completed by contemporary literature. I think that the person who misunderstood this book was not because of his mind, but because of some kind of extremely dishonest intention. People who refer to deer as horses are not really unaware of horses.

"Chinese Painting" is my first novel, which can only be regarded as a study work at best. For more than a decade, there have been many accounts of the book, both positive and negative, and both. I'm not a person who likes to listen to flattery, but I cherish the criticism more. If I can make up for it, I would like to use it to axe it. But I have not been able to grow in literature for more than ten years, and I know that "Chinese Painting" still has obvious flaws, but there is no way to make it better. I instructed myself that in the future, when writing novels, I must cherish the ink like gold, and I must not be too arrogant. The whole book is divided into chapters, and there is no look back, and the sky is down, chaotic. My original intention was to project the ambiguity of the state of life itself directly onto the textual form. My idea may be childish.

I have heard many young friends say that when they graduated from college or graduate school, their teachers solemnly suggested that they read "Chinese Painting". I smell dark and sad. Ancient Chinese gentlemen, with the ideal of self-cultivation and family rule of the country and the world, the must-read book is the Analects, and they believe that half of the Analects is enough to rule the world. If you are born in a chaotic world and want to get ahead, you will read the "Warring States Policy" and "Sun Tzu's Art of War" and the like. To survive in a chaotic world, it is necessary to use strategies and strategies. But the more tactics or schemes are used, the more sinister and cunning the human heart becomes. Chinese, however, we prefer to beautify the twists and turns of the heart, called "the depth of the city government", or "the careful thinking". I have self-knowledge that "Chinese Painting" is not a remarkable book. If young people really have to read "Chinese Painting" at the beginning of their journey, I would curse it for its rapid decay!

"Chinese Painting" has always been a bestseller and long-selling book. Some people say they are very taboo about their books selling well, and I don't know if they are telling the truth. Mr. Lu Xun and his brother Zhou Zuoren were the first to translate the foreign novel "A Collection of Novels Outside the Territory", and it is said that only twenty copies were sold, one of which was bought by Mr. Lu Xun himself pretending to be a reader. It is this collection of novels translated into Chinese that makes Mr. Lu Xun see clearly that literary language must go in the direction of vernacular. Mr. Lu Xun cares a lot about whether his books are best-selling, and it is natural. My book is a best seller, which is a very happy thing. I don't think good literary books are necessarily unbeatable. On the contrary, chinese classical literature classics are bestsellers, just imagine "Dream of the Red Chamber", "Journey to the West", "Romance of the Three Kingdoms", "Water Margin", "Golden Plum" Which one is not a bestseller? One Hundred Years of Solitude is the great literary classic of the twentieth century, and it has been selling well all over the world since its publication. Bestsellers are not necessarily good books, and good books are often bestsellers.

When I wrote, I never considered whether this novel would sell, let alone deliberately add so-called best-selling elements in order to sell well. To be honest, I don't know what literary best-selling elements are. Come to think of it, any of my novels are about everyday life. "Chinese Painting" quickly became popular after publication, which was really unexpected to me. This novel is really a chicken and a dog! Perhaps, it is those seemingly meaningless lives that consume our lives like blunt knives cutting flesh. Literature with pain is good literature. This may be the reason why "Chinese Painting" is loved by readers.

I'm very happy that my book is a bestseller. I remember when "Pale Yellow" was just published for ten days, I was a guest of a book website, and the host clicked on a web page and told me that the book sold for $9.98 in California, AND could be ordered in North America for a week. I was surprised to see that modern means of communication are too fast. Some remote mountainous areas in China have not yet arrived, and books can be bought in North America. I remember it was Saturday, and the site sold nearly four hundred copies a day, which was a good sales situation, because weekend online sales are often half of the usual sales. One year, I went to a remote county at the source of the Yellow River with a population of just over 30,000 to collect wind, and my friends who had dinner with me all took "Chinese Paintings" to let me sign. Even though they brought pirated copies, I happily signed them. I've heard a writer say that if his book is too bestseller, he feels ashamed. But I'm very happy, my realm is too low.
