Yao Wenjun, who is nearly 80 years old, has been teaching for 60 years, but he still has not stopped the pace of progress: founded the most kindergarten in Anyang City, established the Henan Yao Wenjun Main Body Education Research Institute, became the deputy director of the Institute of Basic Education of the Chinese Academy of Management Sciences and the director of the Main Body Education Research Center, and was invited to Malaysia to give a lecture tour... He has spent 60 years witnessing and promoting the reform and development of education in Anyang, Henan and even China.
In 1940, I was born into an ordinary rural family in Wei County, Hebei Province. At that time, the country was long in war, and there was no schooling in the village. After the founding of New China in 1949, the state vigorously developed education, and a primary school was built in the village, and I also went to school. After graduating from elementary school, I was admitted to middle school in Anyang, which is across the river from my hometown. In 1959, I was full of confidence and prepared to take the middle school entrance examination, but the school leaders came to me and hoped that I would stay in the school and participate in the work. My parents did not agree after knowing it, they felt that I had good grades, I should continue to enter high school and college, and the road ahead would be brighter. After thinking about it, I believe that we should heed the call of the organization and be a people's teacher to influence and educate more children. Since then, whether as a teacher, principal, party representative, people's congress deputy, or visiting scholar, I have always believed in listening to the party's words, following the party, and living up to the party's trust in myself.
In 1978, the curtain of reform and opening up slowly opened, and I also came to a new stage, serving as the principal of the Municipal People's Avenue Primary School and the secretary of the party branch. At that time, the college entrance examination had just been resumed, and the national education community was as overwhelmed as a person who was overly hungry and suddenly faced with a sumptuous dinner, and many schools set off a boom in learning cultural knowledge, and they despised moral education through the tactics of questioning the sea. I think that the faster we educate our next generation in this way, the farther away from the goal, because virtue is a person's soul, which plays the role of ensuring direction and maintaining motivation in the process of its growth, and any neglect of moral education is a major error of principle and will cause a major defect in the quality of talents. Since there is an outline for each subject, why can't we develop a moral education syllabus? For these views of mine, many of my peers think that I am "not doing the right thing", while I believe that sharpening the knife does not mistakenly cut wood, and it is fundamental to grasp moral education.
On the second day of the first lunar month in 1979, I went into the office of Renmin Avenue Primary School to create and compile the "Outline of Ideological and Moral Education for Children and Teenagers". After two months of collective discussion with my teacher, China's first "Outline of Ideological and Moral Education for Children and Teenagers" was born, which has a total of more than 40,000 words and more than 100,000 words of auxiliary textbooks. After the implementation of the outline in the two experimental classes of the People's Avenue Primary School, the students not only had good ideological and moral character, but also ranked first in the city in cultural classes. Subsequently, a "whirlwind of avenues" was blown up in China's basic education circles, making the Municipal People's Avenue Primary School a banner on the national primary school moral education front. Later, the State Education Commission invited me to participate in the compilation of the "National Primary School Ideological and Moral Syllabus", and I was also highly praised by Hu Jintao, then secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League.
I suddenly became famous in the country, which I didn't expect. In 1982, after training at the Party School and assessment by the Organization Department of the Municipal Party Committee, I was appointed deputy secretary of the Beiguan District Cpc Committee by the Anyang Municipal Party Committee. From a primary school principal to a deputy county-level leading cadre, most people will be very happy, but my heart is empty. More than a month later, I successively went to the secretary of the district party committee and the secretary of the municipal party committee, and repeatedly expressed that I wanted to go back to school. The leader asked me why, and I said, "I don't have great ambitions in life, so I want to be a principal and run a school well." "After research, the municipal party committee agreed to my request. As moral education experiments spread across the country, various honors followed. In 1987, I was elected as a deputy to the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, in 1988 I was named an advanced worker in moral education in primary and secondary schools nationwide, and in 1989 I won the special prize of the first National Innovation Award for Ideological and Political Work in Half Moon Talk.
In the spring of 1992, a different spring, Comrade Deng Xiaoping made an important speech on the way to inspecting the south. Almost at the same time, after undergoing a life-and-death operation, I became more determined to continue to contribute light and heat to basic education. After studying and thinking, I proposed a subject education experiment suitable for the development of Chinese students, and jointly established a research group with Beijing Normal University on the experimental development of children's subjectivity, and a team of 23 people led by Professor Pei Dina went to the school to participate in this experiment. After several years of dedicated exploration, the main education experiment praised by experts as "a model of combining theoretical research and practical exploration" has been a great success, and another "whirlwind of avenues" has swept the country. In 1996, the experiment won the first prize for outstanding achievements in the "Eighth Five-Year Plan" National Basic Education Reform Experiment. In 1999, the China Education Society promoted the main body education as one of the six successful models of quality education in the country. In 2000, the Henan Provincial Department of Education set up the Main Education Research Center to promote the experience of the main body education of the Municipal People's Avenue Primary School to the whole province.
In 2001, I retired. It is said that I should go home and enjoy my old age, but I feel that the country has nurtured me and given me so much honor, and I should repay the country with wisdom and life. I made up my mind to retreat. I went south to Shenzhen, north to Xiong'an, to the west, out of the country... Under my impetus, the main body of education experiments from public to private, from urban to rural, from domestic to foreign, showing a spark of fire, has achieved phased results.
Since the Nineteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, and on the basis of extensive research and in-depth thinking, I have put forward the topic of "Theoretical Research and Practical Exploration of Subject Education in the New Era", which has been listed as a key scientific research topic in the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" by the Chinese Science Society. No, I have just returned from a lecture in Malaysia, and I am currently planning the 2020 China Main Education Conference, summarizing and commending the "Top 500 Subject Education", and writing a new chapter for the deepening and development of subject education in the new era.
