Lexus has registered a new car name, an electric car, and the name has caused controversy

In addition to the RZ 450e and the RZ 300e power model that has just been sold in Japan, the original Lexus factory has recently registered RZ 350e, RZ 500e, RZ 550e and other car names overseas, which is speculated to expand the power lineup of the RZ series. The current RZ 450e is a two-motor four-wheel drive with 313 hp, while the single-motor RZ 300e is a single-motor front-wheel drive with 204 hp, and it is estimated that the RZ 500e and 550e, which are more numerically graded, may use a motor with 204 hp at the front and rear to create a maximum horsepower of 408 hp, and may even be raised to 480 hp to compete with cars such as the Ford Mustang Mach-e GT, and the battery capacity may also be larger than the current 71.4kWh for better range.

In April 2022, Lexus officially brought this mid-size electric SUV called the RZ 450e. The Toyota bZ4X, which is also powered by the e-TNGA electric modular platform, is equipped with an e-Axle motor set with 150kW at the front and 80kW at the rear, and a total of 230kW front and rear motors, making up to 313 hp, which is significantly higher than the aforementioned two, but the battery pack maintains a single nominal capacity of 71.4kWh.

Previously, in December 2023, Japan's Lexus added the world's first front-wheel drive version of the RZ300e, equipped with a 71.4kWh battery, after missing the 80kW motor on the rear axle and only retaining the 150kW single motor on the front axle, the maximum horsepower has also dropped from 313 hp to 204 hp, and the maximum torque is 266 Nm, but the relative range performance has also increased a lot, and the 494 km under the WLTP test of the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has improved to 599 km. The RZ 300e has optimised coil springs, stabilizers and shock absorbers, and the front-wheel drive model is around 100 kg less than the four-wheel drive model, allowing for a more agile ride.

Now foreign media have revealed that Lexus has registered overseas car names such as RZ 350e, RZ 500e, and RZ 550e, which shows the possibility that the power selection of the RZ model is expected to expand further. The RZ 350e is expected to have a power output between the RZ 300e and the 450e, similar to the Subaru Solterra all-wheel drive, which uses a combination of 80kW motors at the front and rear, creating a power level of 218 hp/160kW.

As for the higher-end RZ 500e and RZ 550e, it is speculated that the original factory may replace the front and rear with a set of 150kW motors to form a high-power dual-motor four-wheel drive, and the comprehensive power may look at the level of 408 hp and 300kW, such output has also been predicted in the previous RZ Sport Concept, and even whether the 550e model will have a larger output of 480 hp, to compete with the Ford Mustang Mach-e GT and other cars cannot be ruled out. With more power, the RZ series may also be replaced with a larger battery pack than the current 71.4kWh in the high-end models, which is bound to bring a greater range than the RZ 450e.
