"Roasted sweet potatoes are delicious, but they can cause cancer!"
You must know that roasted sweet potatoes are NO.1 in sweet potato practice
Such a delicious roasted sweet potato
Does it really cause cancer?
01
Can eating baked sweet potatoes cause cancer?
Roasted sweet potatoes are thought to cause cancer mainly because roasting is a high-temperature cooking:
●The general temperature can reach 160~170°C
●The temperature of microwave baking can reach 160~180°C
●The temperature of electric roasting can reach 225~240°C
● The temperature of charcoal grilling can be as high as 350°C
Cooking carbohydrate-rich, high-starch foods at temperatures above 120°C promotes the formation of acrylamide, a type of carcinogen.
In fact, although acrylamide is a carcinogen, it belongs to class 2A carcinogens, and the evidence of carcinogenicity to animals is relatively clear, but the evidence of carcinogenicity to humans is limited, but it may cause cancer, not that it will cause cancer if eaten, and it is considered a potential carcinogen.
Like the red meat we usually eat, such as pork, beef and mutton, it also belongs to class 2A carcinogens, and we can keep a normal mind when eating these meats, and treat acrylamide with a normal heart.
In addition, some researchers tested the acrylamide content of commercially available roasted sweet potatoes, and found that only the skin of roasted sweet potatoes contained a small amount of acrylamide, while almost no acrylamide was detected in the flesh of sweet potatoes.
Therefore, the harm caused by acrylamide to human health when eating baked sweet potatoes can be basically ruled out, and you don't have to worry too much about this.
For the burnt parts that are visible to the naked eye, you can completely remove them before eating.

It should be reminded that roasted sweet potatoes made in the oven, microwave, and air fryer can be eaten with confidence, but the coal-fired roasted sweet potatoes on the street should be eaten sparingly.
Some studies have mentioned that the skin, subcutaneous meat layer and middle meat layer of coal-roasted sweet potatoes are seriously polluted by sulfur, copper, lead, mercury and arsenic heavy metals, especially the skin is the most seriously polluted.
02

You can also find a good-looking pot to plant, not only can you harvest a good-looking potted plant, but the leaves of sweet potatoes can also be used to make vegetables, and it is good to make a cold sweet potato leaf or sweet potato leaf fried shredded pork.
03
What is the really inedible sweet potato?
Sweet potatoes can be eaten if they sprout, but they can't be eaten if they are moldy.
Moldy sweet potatoes produce the toxin sweet potato ketone, which can cause liver necrosis in mice and other animals.
This toxin is stable, resistant to high temperatures, and is not easily destroyed, and cannot be decomposed by ordinary cooking methods.
If you see a sweet potato with black or brown skin and black spots, don't eat it to be safe.
04
How do you store sweet potatoes?
It is best not to refrigerate the sweet potatoes you bought, because the temperature is too low and will be affected by cold damage, which will brown the inside of the sweet potatoes or produce black spots;
Don't put it in too hot an environment, too high the ambient temperature will cause the sweet potato to sprout prematurely or have chaff;
It is recommended to store at 10~15 °C and put it in a cool and dry place on the balcony.
