On April 7, Israel abruptly withdrew its ground forces from the southern Gaza Strip, and then "Iran Watch" broke the news that Iran had privately sent a message to the United States that it could give up attacking Israel in exchange for a "permanent ceasefire agreement" in Gaza.
The two things are linked, and some people have raised the question: Will Palestine and Israel talk or fight after the withdrawal of troops? Will Iran really give up its retaliation against Israel?
Although Israel claims that the withdrawal is in preparation for a plan to attack Rafah in the future, this is mere posturing, and the reality is still to make way for peace talks.
According to Egyptian officials, a new round of Palestinian-Israeli talks has officially begun on 7 April.
But the latest news shows that the current round of negotiations has completely broken down.
There are three main reasons for the breakdown of the talks: first, the Israeli proposal does not include a permanent ceasefire and a complete withdrawal of troops; second, Israel and Hamas have never been able to reach an agreement on the issue of prisoner exchange; and third, Netanyahu has not given the negotiators the relevant authorization on the issue of the return of refugees to northern Gaza, which makes it impossible to continue the talks.
The breakdown of the negotiations means that Iran's proposal to send a private message to the United States is directly nullified, and in this case, the missiles are lost and the warships are bombed.
In the early morning of April 9, the Iraqi armed group "Iraqi Islamic Resistance Movement" issued a statement announcing that in the past three days, it had launched strikes on five Israeli targets, including the Ashkon oil port and Hazerim air base. Iraqi militant groups also posted a video showing how they used cruise missiles, suicide drones and other weapons to strike Israel.
At the same time, the Houthis are also stepping up their strikes against ships of the United States, Britain and Israel.
According to information released by the Houthis in Yemen, in the past three days, the Houthis have attacked the British merchant ship "Hope Island" in the Red Sea, the Israeli cargo ship "MSC Gina" in the Arabian Sea, and the Israeli cargo ship "MSC Grace F" in the Indian Ocean. It also attacked a number of U.S. warships cruising in the Red Sea.
Both the ILA and the Houthis are part of the axis of resistance, backed by Iran, and they have stepped up attacks on U.S. and Israeli targets, in a sense, Iranian retaliation for the bombing of the embassy. Of course, such retaliation is still not strong enough compared to the bombing of the embassy, so the outside world still keeps an eye on Iran and expects a real counterattack.
But from Israel's point of view, the situation is a bit less rosy.
The other day, a well-known Israeli journalist published an article in Novaya Izvestia in which he criticized Netanyahu. In his opinion, Netanyahu has completely lost the war. The so-called "losing the war" refers to two levels: one is the frontal battlefield, which was forced to withdraw its troops without destroying Hamas, and failed to rescue the Israeli hostages taken hostage, which is a failure; and the other is that in the diplomatic field, it has not properly handled relations with the West, especially the US-Israel relations, which has led to the situation that thousands of people refer to, which is also a failure.
In fact, this is not wrong, after the members of the "World Central Kitchen" were mistakenly killed by Israeli troops, a huge rift has appeared in US-Israeli relations, and this is undoubtedly worse for Israel.
