On May 1st, the "Love and Art Acquaintance" Cantonese Foshan Artist Sketching Activity was held in Huangxi Ancient Village, Shishan Town, Nanhai District. More than 120 artists and art lovers from Guangzhou and Foshan walked into Huangxi Ancient Village, splashing ink and passion, and depicting the ancient charm and new style of "traditional Chinese villages" with their brushes.
This is the first sketching activity after the Nanhai District Artists Association set up a sketching base and activity base in Huangxi Village. Huangxi Village was founded in the Song Dynasty and has a history of more than 800 years, and is a model of traditional Chinese villages. The village retains a large number of ancient residential buildings in the Ming and Qing dynasties, which has become a "living fossil" of Lingnan culture.
Walking into Huangxi Village, artists are in groups of three or five, looking for their favorite scenery sketches. Gudu old banyan, Ming and Qing ancient buildings, small bridges and flowing water, ancient village greenery...... The charm of the ancient village has inspired the artist's creation.

Artist Li Zichang painted a mandala flower on the spot, the leaves are green, the flowers are outstanding, and in more than an hour, a piece of ink bone painting pen is impressive on the paper.
Under the banyan tree by the river at the head of the village, Liu Yangbiao, a member of the presidium of the Nanhai District Artists Association, is splashing ink.
"Come on, come on, touch it, moisten the paper to this humidity, and then you can paint the feeling of ink painting. Liu Yangbiao is also one of the teachers of the "Danqing Legacy" study class sponsored by the Nanhai Painting Institute and the Nanhai District Artists Association. On the day of the event, Liu Yangbiao gave a lesson to the students on the spot, "Yes, this ancient turret has been transformed well, the photo is taken from above, but the painting should be painted overlook." Liu Yangbiao said while encouraging the other students to start drawing.
Many artists from the Liwan District Artists Association in Guangzhou are particularly interested in the two old banyan trees next to the ancient ferry port. "It's rare to see such a vigorous and graceful ancient banyan tree, the two trees seem to hold hands with each other, stand next to each other, very loving, and there is just a stone forehead of Huangxi Wharf under the tree, which is very iconic. Li Changsong, chairman of the Liwan District Artists Association, said that the rich historical and cultural heritage and quiet and beautiful environment of Huangxi Village have provided them with a steady stream of creative inspiration.
This event is one of the series of activities of "Art Empowerment and Beautiful Village" held by the Nanhai District Artists Association, and it is a specific practice of using literature and art to help the "Millions of Projects". It is understood that in August 2023, after the completion of the general election of the Nanhai District Artists Association, the "Beautiful Village" Work Department was specially established.
